    Its finally arrived
It took 11 days rather than the 48 hours offered
Where was the 48 hours offered?

M&S website doesn't appear to make any promises about standard delivery times.
When you order most things (under £60) from M&S website (except for special orders) - it comes with (paid for) 48 hour delivery !
Nowhere on your screenshot does M&S offer a guaranteed 48 hour delivery for £3.50.

Still no sign of delivery - it has now been 10 days since ordering
The letter was sitting in the local sorting office last Thursday (tracking confirms) and a delivery was due on Saturday (didn't happen) and again today (still waiting - although normal post was delivered at 11am)
And Royal Mail staff think that they deserve a pay rise ?
    On your bikes mate
You can't blame your local postie because mail took 11 days to go through the system, Royal Mail is one of the few couriers left that have employees on a salary, driving company vans plus getting sick pay, holiday and the other things protected by law for employees.

Eventually Royal Mail will erode this and I can see in years to come they'll end up like the rest with staff on pay per drop as self employed and then the service will suffer.

Strikes have been in the news for a long time now, Christmas is always on the 25th and I assume M&S sell gift cards all year round, whilst this has nothing to do with consumer rights if you order something online after the last pay day weekend before Christmas delays are sadly expected.  :)

     on 12 December  you said

If it was in the sorting office  on 8 December, it would be delayed by the  Royal  Mail strike on 9 December and probably was added to the back log of undelivered mail.

Tracked48 has an aim of 2-3 days.
It isn't a guaranteed service and you can't claim for a late delivery under the terms of this service either.

? So a few days after the Black Friday weekend and the Friday at the start of the first weekend of Dec, both being the busiest two weekends of the year for online shopping.

I think it was 30th November and 1st December.
Either way it definitely would have been caught.
