Where did you buy it from? Have you asked the supplier for a refund?

    on line
    and Yes I have
    So what did they say?
Not a lot of point asking about your rights without telling us what response the retailer has given so far.

Do you honestly expect an email to be responded to on a Sunday ?
Live Chat is similarly not very helpful - only a chatbot
How did the poster know you'd only messaged on a Sunday?
For all they know you could have asked last week - nowhere do you mention that you messaged them on Sunday.

    Its finally arrived
It took 11 days rather than the 48 hours offered
Where was the 48 hours offered?

M&S website doesn't appear to make any promises about standard delivery times.

When you order most things (under £60) from M&S website (except for special orders) - it comes with (paid for) 48 hour delivery !

Pretty sure no M&S customers will be getting 48 hours at the moment.  Reddit etc are full of people still waiting for tracked 48 that was posted in late November.  (I myself included still waiting for two packages).

Hope everyones posted their christmas mail already - i suspect those deadlines given by them are too late.

Would you trust them to deliver on time ?
    Especially at the moment ...

Short of a dedicated vehicle I would not trust any courier service to deliver something mission critical on specific day. My business dispatches around 80 consignments a week in normal times, but can dispatch upwards of 1,000 a week a 4-10 times a year, there are always delays for some consignments, there is no such thing as a guaranteed service.

Royal Mail are having to deal with ongoing strikes which is causing them major disruption, because of that many suppliers are moving shipments to couriers who were already operating over capacity before that, with Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Christmas shopping and now the consignments moving from RM to couriers they are all well over their operating capacity. This is why none of them offer a "guaranteed" delivery.

But where on M&S website does it guarentee that standard delivery will be made in 48 hours? Your screenshot is of the last Christmas order dates (which seem unrealistic anyway). On the gift card page it states just the last order is 2pm on the 19th for pre-Christmas delivery.
But for clothing their standard delivery normally says 5-7 days and there is no similar information on the website.

By all means if you can find where they promised it would be delivered in two days then you can ask them to refund you the delivery charge but I see no such promise unless you pay for next day delivery.

Tracked48 is the name of the service Royal Mail offer, not the time it will be delivered in.

But there has also been strikes on several dates in the last few days and Royal Mail state they prioritise Tracked24 during the strike periods.

I've been speaking to a different company today to get a faulty item replaced.  The process was pretty painless once I finally got through, but I was told that items are normally received within 48 hours but they are now warning it may be up to a week.  This is down to the massive increase in the amount of items going through 'carrier systems' according to the lady I dealt with.  Much like the 70 mph signs on motorways when stuck in a jam are aspiration rather than expectation, I think the same can be said about delivery promises.  Once they leave the vendor they have absolutely no control over movements.
