Where did you buy it from? Have you asked the supplier for a refund?

    on line
    and Yes I have
    So what did they say?
Not a lot of point asking about your rights without telling us what response the retailer has given so far.

Do you honestly expect an email to be responded to on a Sunday ?
Live Chat is similarly not very helpful - only a chatbot
Just to point out you didn’t say when or how you’d contacted them. Just that you had.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

During the period of well advertised strike days YOU chose to use a Company that used Royal Mail. Why?
Can you provide a link to where on the M and S website it says they'll send a gift card by Royal Mail?

    It doesn't

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

Yes but nowhere does M&S specifiy what type of service they will use for standard delivery prior to someone purchasing an item.
I expect  they use a range of different service depending on the item.

But in general standard delivery is just that, no guarenteed date.

If the OP has paid an additional amount, over and above the standard delivery charge, for guaranteed 48 hour delivery that element should be refunded.  However, to expect guaranteed delivery in the middle of a postal strike is possibly being a wee bit naive.

On the other hand, I expect it will still get priority over ordinary post. And while the Royal Mail may be obliged to refund to their customers if guaranteed services don't happen, I'm not sure that necessarily follows through to retailers' delivery charges.

It is not guaranteed 48 hour delivery though, it is a tracked service with a 48 hour target. I agree on expecting Royal Mail to deliver in the middle of a strike though, the backlogs are huge, they may not even catch up until after Christmas.

Because they wanted n M&S voucher for Xmas
I was unaware that they would be unable ro deliver for a minimum of 9 days and in any case - it's not up to me to choose the delivery company is it?
It has been sitting in my local sorting office for 4 days with no delivery attempt
The problem is once it is late there is no incentive for RM to deliver it.  In fact it is the opposite.  They are judged on how quickly they deliver so the effort will be placed on shifting new mail through the system to maintain targets and mail already delayed in the system will be got round to some time.
