Ooh, very exciting!! Oh dear at the third viewing, sounds like the estate agent is sick of it 😂 But your second viewing sounds just perfect - hope you are banging on the door of the estate agents as we speak! (Or when they actually open, of course) 😂 All fingers and toes crossed - and ready to get yours on the market too, eeeeek!2

Morning all - lovely to see so many visitors again!Humdinger1 said:Ooh exciting @EssexHebridean! Living vicariously here...if not too personal a question, why have you decided to move? Love Humdinger xx
Not too personal at all! You might already know that our original long term plan was a move to the Hebrides - and that is still in the game plan it's just a fair old way off now. My Dad died last spring, and Mum is now on her own - I'm an only child so the idea of moving hundreds of miles away is a categorical no for me right now. After a discussion MrEH and I agreed to put a "whatever happens, 5 year plan" in place to stay put - aside from a cursory interested glance over what is on the market we're no longer even looking up there. Having made that decision, a further discussion led us to the conclusion that if we were going to be staying in our current area for the foreseeable, we'd really like a garden, some more space, and no neighbours overhead! Because we're looking at going from a 2 bed flat to a 3 bed house, it means we'll have a dedicated office space - so the "clutter" associated with MrEH's working from home, and our voluntary role work (We do the beer order for a large annual beer festival) will all be contained in a specific area. Our flat is nice - and we've worked hard to make it even nicer over the last few years too - but we've been there 19 years (20 this year, in fact) and it feels like time for a change now.
Yesterday was another flat out day - but we really are now SO close to being there. My wildly ambitious list that we started the weekend with has been whittled down to pretty much finishing touches - some of which will get ticked off tonight hopefully - a lot of it now comes down to a full deep clean of both the kitchen and the bathroom to get both looking their sparkling best. MrEH is getting hold of the agent for the one we'd like to buy about now, hopefully, with a full "all cards on the table" approach to see how that is received - me being me of course I'm already resigned to the fact that we'll probably lose it - but that IS realistic as with the best will in the world they may well get offers from people in a better position than we are at this point. I'd sooner assume that will be the case then it will be a nice surprise if not!
MSE stuff:
- Banks checked and all good there
- Have agreed that MrEH will clear the 0% card off today using what will become joint account surplus. I've run through a doublecheck of the budget and that works, so let's get it gone!
- once that is cleared, I'll top up the regular monthly payment that goes to what is now the "New House Fund" by the £50 that was going to that card.
- yesterday wasn't a NSD - MrEH went out to get his paper, and drop the soft plastics recycling off - he did wander to the YS'd section but there was nothing worth having, but he also put diesel in the card while he was out. It was needed though so fine. Aiming for most of this week being NSD's though!
- We're flying by the seat of our pants on food this week - no meal plan, but a lot of stuff in the freezers to attack, and enough basic fruit and veg in to make it work without the plan. I've got turkey out tonight for a stir fry - that will use a leek, a carrot and some mushrooms from the fridge, and I'll most likely throw in a handful or two of peppers from the freezer as well as some leftover mix veg from dinner yesterday. Tomorrow will be a Tuesday standard of couscous salad with halloumi.
- I've totted up the December > January food spends and transferred across from the relevant pot. Of course if I'd thought about it I would have waited until this week as we have a veg box coming saturday and technically that should come into the past month's spend. Too late now though - we'll just take an early hit on the Jan > Feb budget!
Other stuff:
Planning a run this evening - I've got my running shoes with me. I'm also keeping up with the yoga challenge at the moment although at only three days in that could easily change! Plan for this week then is 2 runs (probably tonight and Wednesday) 1 gym (Friday) and lots of yoga - I'd like to do at least 6 days if not all 7)
Aiming to get the bathroom sorted tonight - not much to be done there though - some sealing round the window, and a good deep clean will see that sorted!
Also aiming to just keep noting things that currently draw the eye or are out of place and have plastic storage boxes ready for those. I managed to create a fair bit of added cupboard space yesterday by getting one large plastic box filled!
That's about it really - just keeping fingers crossed now for feedback from the agents!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
