The new house viewing sounds like an interesting project to get your teeth into.
That floral house is a bit of an assault on the eyes2 -
Starnac I love your thinking there!
RS assault on the eyes is putting it mildly! and MAB - that's a decent level of energy credit for the middle of the winter - I'm trying to remind myself that we could still have a lot of cold weather to come, though!
I've just taken £7.86 out of TCB which I'll transfer to the new house fund once it's landed - it all helps, after all! My survey earnings will still go to me personally, by the way - but cashback I'm happy to mostly divert to joint funds now.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I’m a bit behind, but thank you for the link to the flowery house 🤣 I bet the estate agent made them paint upstairs as it was suspiciously rose free in the bedroom’s.I love the terrible real estate agent photos site, there are some jaw dropping pictures and excellent captions..

I have a friend who lived in the area for exactly the reasons you say, easy to commute and oddly cheaper than the surrounding areas. Where I moved from was madly expensive and has only gone up, even when I lived there I was considering moving to a cheaper, less pretty town as it was very near and when WFH you spend most of the time in the house rather than the town anyway. But having moved somewhere I have a nicer house for 2/3 of the mortgage, I am not sure I could go back.

Oh WW that site is truly a rabbit hole as Redo says - bookmarking for later! Beanie thank you - fingers crossed!Rosa I think the reason it’s generally a little cheaper here is that it’s a New Town of course - but without the “Garden” in the name that makes the likes of Welwyn and Letchworth a little more pricey! Then there is the reputation it has for being a concrete jungle too…entirely undeserved for the most part IMO - one of the main principles of the town was it being built around “green wedges” which are still largely maintained. When we moved out it was very much a case of “well the incomers have priced me out of London so I suppose I’ll have to put up with it” but I do like it as a place to live now for the most part. The council is shocking - always has been - but that can happen anywhere! (I’ll be glad not to have them as freeholders any more though!)
Happy Friday all - my day off as regular viewers will recall - and I think today is going to be a busy-ish one as there are lots of odd jobs I’d like to get done. We’ve been for a walk, and I’ve made and eaten porridge while simultaneously doing the washing up - so that’s a job out of the way. Next plan is a 15 minute timer to get washing hung out (as it’s sunny and dry ATM) and the dishwasher emptied if it ran through last night - MrEH was meant to set it but I haven’t checked if he did. Then I’ll get set to head off to the gym I think.
Ooh - I ran last night! Week 1, run 1 of Couch to 5k - thoroughly enjoyed it, it felt very good to be back out there and so far aside from a little residual stiffness in the legs the knees, hip and most importantly Achilles all seem to be holding up just fine. I’m concentrating on running with really good form, and also on sticking to the timings in the programme rather than thinking I could “just” add a bit to the end, or run for a bit longer each time…I know it works if you stick to it, and this way I can go back to basics and build up slowly.
I’ll pop back later with the MSE wins for the day and probably a further jobs list…🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
