Sse electric bill for shop excessively high?

And there is no electric til or kettle, just radio card machine and led lighting.
salon has been up and running for over 15 years so we have got some idea on electric usage.0 -
rowdy75 said:Why would they keep bringing it up.I mention sse trying to charge £7500 to run LED lights for 3 and a bit months and people say post the statements/meter reading, yet I mention the salon on a fixed rate dd of about £150 and people get their knickers in a twist and jump to say that’s low. Just comes across as some folk are strange.
and it would be a nice easy answer if the bills were just switched because £2k a month for a salon would be high but not unbelievably high.
thats why people have been asking for the meter readings for both. which you dont want to share. which is fine.
but people are still going to be bothered (and that's why we come on here in our free time to help people. because we like finding the answers).Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It’s not my bill. Do you work for an employer? If so would you post details or photos of the correspondence? Or your neighbours leccy bills?
in context my household £65 a month dd has just been increased to £257.
in that context the salon would now have increased to around £600 which would be about right but it was fixed before prices went mad.
So £150 is £5 a day (although nearer £9 for the days the shop is actually open)
Why point that out? I’ve said sse told us on the phone our actual usage amounts to £55 a month, which is a third of the salon dd.
As I have said we are very aware and very careful with our electricity usage.
And, like I said there might be a shortfall, but that isn’t, or wasn’t the issue here.0 -
Hi,did shop used to be one, then split? Are meters all together, flat and two shops, could there be a mix up with shop meters?0

like i said. i understand that you dont want to discuss it. but this is a public forum and you mentioned it so its not really surprising that people picked up on it and are interested. So £150 is £5 a day (although nearer £9 for the days the shop is actually open) Why point that out?
a professional hair dryer can be 2 to nearly 4 kW an hour to run. that could easily be more than £5 a day. then add the other electrical use like heating water. that's why people think its weird and worth mentioning.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Why are people getting hung up on it.The issue is with sse and the gift shop, I mentioned the salon in context as it’s my wife’s business and in the same building.0 -

the meters are separate, flat one is upstairs, and each shop one is on the wall of the furthest outside wall from each other if that makes sense.
The shop was dilapidated, and I had to rebuild a lot of it, which took months. The electrician completely re wired it as it was dangerous and not fit for purpose. There was a long period where the power was not on in the gift shop so I know it is completely isolated from the other shop and flat1 -

so its not surprising that its been mentioned as a solution to the problem of the gift shop. it would be a very neat and tidy solution that would make sense. (we see people with odd readings that have eventually been the result of a meter switch quite often. and sometimes the problem has been going on for years and only found when a supplier has been changed or someone has moved in/out).
why are you getting so hung up about a few people mentioning the salon that YOU brought up (until this aside it was maybe half a dozen posts over 7 pages of comments)Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

Because it’s never going to be a mix up between two separate meters when one is supplied by sse and the other is supplied by British Gas is it.0

i always get the details of this wrong but @[Deleted User] will correct me i'm sure
simply when the property was split two meters will have been installed. one for what is now the salon and one for what is now the card shop (and maybe also one for the flat etc). each meter has a unique meter serial numbers, a meter administration number, and a meter reference number. those details will be added to two national databases.
if when the new meters were added to the national database some of those numbers were switched around (which isnt rare) then when ANY supplier sets up a supply for either property then they will pick up the wrong meter.
it doesn't matter if its the same supplier or differnt suppliers or if the suppliers have changed over the years. they dont physically come out to look at your meter to check its the right one. they trust the data base. so if the data base is wrong then your readings wont be on your bill.
no idea if thats' the problem or if you want to look into it. but the fact the two shops have a differnt supplier or the salon has been there longer is no reason to think it couldnt be the problem.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
