Me yet again.
From the list I have wrapped the last (I hope) of our Christmas presents. A workman turned up and the cooker had to be pulled out so I took the opportunity to clean behind it.Spend less now, work less later.10 -
I'm back, having decluttered the stool and the CS bag. I've also put out the black bin and all the recycling, and finished putting the baubles on my tree. Now I'm enjoying a coffee and a cheeky scone (but no butter or jam) - can't let them go stale!
Lunch next, then I'll try to take Rosie out early so that the cold doesn't get to me so badly.9 -
Afternoon
just scoffed lunch, while I was downstairs I also gave the utility and downstairs loo a swish over. On my way back upstairs I rehomed some gibble from the hall table.
back to work again now. Have a nice afternoon all9 -
Narc0lepsy said:The Big Give starts tomorrow if anyone is donating to charity this Christmas, all donations doubled.Thank you for the heads up. There are so many I'd love to be able to support and at least three I suspect we will, although I haven't reached the end of the page yet so there may be more. I suspect we will tell everyone we're not sending cards this year and use the postage money for donations through The Big Give, and then send a very few cards just the same.Regarding your shock at postage prices, when they started putting the prices up every year I followed MSE's advice and scratched together as much money as I could realistically 'invest' and bought a pile, as did Belovéd. I'm still using them because I've become very absetemious as it's now so expensive. They're still putting the price up each year but we hardly ever get a handwritten envelope through the door any more and I'm pretty sure it's because emails are sort of free, and most of us have mobile plans with inclusive calls and texts.Today was busy. We registered with the new GP practice (hurrah!) after 35 years with the old one, we took the dog to the new vet practice (hurrah!) after 35 years with the old one, went to the tip where they sell unwanted, usable useful stuff and found a slightly battered M&S coffee table that will be perfect as a TV stand in the superking bedroom, a couple of lengths of lawn edging and a pretty jug all for very few ££s, went to the dental hygienist which had been postponed because I couldn't get up the stairs with the broken ankle, dropped off a couple of boxes at the CS, and then went to Morribunds to get all of the makings for Christmas cake, Christmas pudding (vegan this year for one of our guests) and mincemeat for frangepan topped mince pies. All in all about 4,000 paces, which my ankle and I seem to be okay with; I'm tired, but not exhausted as I was last Wednesday. Belovéd was so knackered he fell asleep for 40 minutes which isn't like him.The only thing I didn't do because he was already so tired was have a go at driving to see if it was safe for me to do so in the car park when I'd finished as much shopping as I could in the time we had. Maybe Thursday on the way back from the Foodbank, or on the way to the physio.
Better is good enough.8 -
Evening all.
Had an email from the spider shop, for a minute I thought they were going to tell me they were out of stock (apparently there were only 4 left yesterday afternoon, they are very sort after) thankfully they were just saying they were going to hold of posting for a week because of the strikes. They'll also check the weather closer too, they ship with a heat pack but best not to post if the temp drops too low.
I'm sat here with a pen and a stack of cards but trying to build up the energy to actually write them out. I've only got a short list.

Dizzy flying in on tattered wings...long time MIA. Had some scary blood test results, scans, biopsies, endometrial ablation and polyp removal. Feeling bruised, battered and very pathetic. Need to get back on the wagon (in many aspects of life) so hoping to rejoin please?
Iona - belated birthday wishes - hope Dewi spoiled you xxx

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!! Welcome back Dizzy - it's always lovely to see you! xx
Glad you've managed to get Layla in to see the new vet, HB. Hope it's nothing serious.
Suddenly I find my to-do list has trebled in size and everything needs to be done this week. How on earth did that happen? This requires a new version of the list...
Next 4 jobs:
- order repeat prescription
- ring DS2
- cook potatoes and heat up stew for tea
- write Christmas cards whilst watching GBBO with DH
...and that'll be me done in for today.9
