Used RAC tyres once who are run by the same company who runs ASDA tyres. Turned up at the fitting centre and the owner of the fitting centre had never heard of them and had no idea why he was listed as a fitting partner on the RAC/ASDA tyres websites. All a weird experience so I've never used them again.

As an update on this, I issued proceedings, and Asda immediately paid up.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Thanks for the upate... can you clarify what you mean by "issued proceedings" please?

I issued a court claim, using MCOL.

It’s pretty straightforward, and certainly much quicker than endless discussion with customer disservice.

Put the complaint in writing and issue an LBA. Wait two weeks and, if they ignore the LBA, then copy the LBA into the claim form and press the submit claim button.  It takes a few minutes.

The court fee is £35, which is added to the claim. I also added £50 fixed commencement costs, which is compensation  to me for time spent  filling out the paperwork.

Garage A didn't do the service first? Because in my experience they usually do the service first to catch/fix minor things that'd cause MOT issues, and would potentially have told you it'd fail the MOT on the tyre before doing the test to give you the chance to fix it.

All the garages I have dealt with recently do it the other way round.  MOT first.  If it fails, they know what they need to fix while doing the service.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

The issue with doing it this way is that any failures show up in the MOT history

And it means they need to retest it.

They shouldn't need to do a retest:-

A partial retest is where only the items that you vehicle failed on during the full MOT test are examined

On older cars I would want the MOT done first then you can decide whether to bother with repairs or just scrap it.

Of course on newer cars you know you will get it sorted out so will make no difference apart from having fails which don't look good when you want to sell on.
