Asda Tyres - very poor service

Asda presumably has a huge legal team already to deal with this sort of thing, and will spend very little time on it.
They'll reply pointing to the contract you agreed to, and how it's either not their fault and/or that you haven't followed their complaints process, and then wait for you to take it to court where they'll do pretty much the same.
You've got an uphill battle being that you seem to have agreed with the incorrect work being done, and then paid someone else to do work without trying to get Asda or the fitter to resolve it.
If they paid out every claim made against them because it was cheaper, people would catch on and claim all kinds of garbage.
You never know; they might just pay you, or they might instruct someone to take it up with the garage who may refund you.
But you need to be very clear (a) what it is you actually want and (b) why you think you've got a legal claim to it.

This isn't actually Asda. It's Colewood Automotive, trading as Asda Tyres. I have no idea whether they have a huge legal dept.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

But do the previous few comments indicate that these people never check their tyres, and rely simply on an annual MOT check to highlight any dangerous faults that may be present on their cars? Not just tyres, obviously - but how would you feel if you were driving around with a dangerously defective tyre, had a blowout on the motorway and ended up killing or seriously injuring yourself, your passengers or some innocent passing motorist?Yes, we're all told we should check our tyres weekly. Arguably that's a bit overkill - but a quick 5 minutes once a month is not unreasonable. You really do need to be making some effort to ensure your car is roadworthy. Nothing too onerous, but simple basic checks that any driver should be capable of making. Relying on an annual MOT is really not sufficient.<Rant over, no offence intended, hope none was caused>0

Amongst the varied documentation I produce for clients is a vehicle check sheet. Because of the nature of the work they do tyres are (supposed to be) checked daily. Vehicles and tyres are also listed on site audits. Nuisance I know but far cheaper than the costs involved with punctures and breakdowns.
Some years ago a company asked me to take over the administrative side of the company. On a tour of the premises I found several vehicles with illegal tyres - you can guess the first instruction I issued.

Did he decided which tyre needed changing by just looking a them on the car ?
You accepted his word over the MOT without querying it?
Did you not ask to see the area of concern/ depth guage etc?
My husband checked our tyres before getting a service. Tyres were still sufficient.
Garage phoned to say two tyres were illegal and could they put new ones on.' NO,'was the answer, 'The tyres are still legal, I checked them 2 days ago.'
The garage did not argue.

There was a large gash on the inside of one of the tyres, which they would easily have seen if they had looked even moderately closely. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

And did you tell them specifically that they were looking for a tyre with a gash on the inside wall or a tyre that needed replacing ? if the latter then they found one that needed replacing and they replaced it
Really can’t see why you’re still progressing with this rather than accepting you’ve two new, safe, tyres and may have cost you a fiver on replacing the (in their opinion) unsafe one before you might’ve chosen to1 -
Service aside, the MOT failing again on the same tyre indicates that the tyres were still where the MOT tester left them.
Which leads me to wonder if an MOT tester will test all of the tires if one of them fails, or if you could swap them around for the retest.

this whole thread seems a little bit bizarre to me
the car has MOT and fails due to a defective tyre we can only assume it was a major rather than a dangerous fail as the car was taken away from the garage that did the MOT
so rather than get a new tyre the OP goes and gets the car serviced a garage where they may or may not have rotated the tyres
and eventually when the tyre is replaced the fitter replaced the wrong tyre
all very strange
