If you're escaping then it is likely you are stressing about something and the books are comforting but not energising5

Thanks WD - I know what I'm trying to escape but a bit like your caring responsibilities - it feels inescapable...
Ah well. Today was a good day. I went to work and had a nice catch up with a range of colleagues. I got a piece of work done that's been hanging over me so happy with that. My writing group got cancelled for the third week on the run which was irritating but I decided to turn it to a positive. I rang a friend who was also due to go to it and we met at a posh country pub and had a nice meal and chatted for over 2 hours. Had a really good time and felt energised. I came back and DD had done the dishwasher which brough a huge smile to my face... It's the little things in life that make a huge difference.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

It is nice knowing you all care.
Today is a good MSE day.- My mortgage has gone out - so now owe around £652 less.
- £25 went into savings
- I got 28p from a book sale. I have gained a couple of rating recently too. If it was any of you - thank you.
- I got £15.33 in interest. I have to say monthly interest is so much more motivating!

I need to make myself be more active, eat more fruit and veg and less junk. I need a reset day I think - where I partially fast to get rid of the sugar cravings. I'm proud for making myself go to the ballet - it was kind of easier as it was last minute so no time to chicken out of it. I need to make myself go out more often. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Great progress on that mortgage in only just over a year you have paid almost £10k off and built up some emergency savings. What a good result. Glad you enjoyed your meal out with a friend. We need little treats like that every now and again to break up the routine of daily work/home/family etcI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. It's good to see the mortgage go down and as you say - practically at £10K paid off now. I can stick another token on my wooden house as I'm a payment down.
Had an enjoyable end to the day playing a card game with DD. Just ordered a pigs game to play with her too. Keeps us talking and hopefully making positive memories. Will arrange to go to a musical as a joint birthday treat in a few months time.
Hoping to also book to go to see the bodyguard with my friend in a few weeks time. Feel like I'm getting a social life again.
I've booked some annual leave for Easter - so want to start looking for a cottage too.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
