I bought myself a 14 month old car last year with 1300miles on the clock. Only a 1l petrol engine and a non-sporty Seat - still cost me a few hundred over £20k.... I still have my 13yo Golf - 50.5k on the clock, bought from new, 1.6 diesel - the kids use that one.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £205

I hate using savings even when they are named for that purpose.
Home safely. Gave moral support to sis. Helped with a couple of practical things. Read a lot. Rested. Played my new game with sis. Glad to be home.

Well DD has woken up really ill today - sore throat and fever - hard for her to swallow. Naturally the GP phone number seems to be broken. Even tried it from my work mobile and call still didn't go through. Have emailed in the hope that arrives.
I have to go into the office today - so hope she's alright. Will buy a chippy tea for her on the way home. Suggested ice cream and chicken noodle soup in between.
Running late - need to make myself go and shower - but in credit at work so not a problem.
I've managed to get half price aud books for 3 months. I know I could use the library - I may investigate that - but like owning. This buys me some time to think. Just by saying want to pause or cancel they send you offers. I will send another £100 to savings for now.

Hope DD is feeling a bit better now - although if it's tonsilitus which it sounds as though it might be she'll likely need anti-biotics. having said that, last few times I've had the warning signs I've managed to ward it off before it's got to the "white spots in the throat" stage by swallowing hot drinks as hot as I can bear them and telling it to go away. (I rather think it is the first part of that which has been effective, rather than the second, but you know, it pays to cover all bases!)🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

DD is still ill. Both my kids have huge tonsils at the best of times. She has a fever still and is diagnosing via net. Just took her BP which is fine. She got antibiotics yesterday - we got an appointment in the end -but she only started taking them today. She has a pain in her side too - so she wants me to ring the GP for her again tomorrow. Joy. She was just debating whether or not she needed more urgent action. It's hard to avoid feeding hypochondria and be supportive. Plus when it's someone else's pain - no way to scale it. I think it can wait - just have to hope that's correct.
Over-spent on food last night but got loads of reduced price food - most of which was dated today so only a little off but it all helps. Made sausage casserole at lunch for about a third less than it would have cost. Potentially cooking some piri piri chicken and casserole style veg next - possibly with a tin of tomatoes and some sweet chilli sauce. DD owed me about £15 of what I spent though and I did buy a new pan for £16 in the sale. Still left £45 after that though. I have had lovely YS raspberries and cherries today though which felt a lovely win. I also ate normal price apple and a tangy tangerine.
Gas smart meter fitted today. He suggested I could use their device instead of my existing one - but I think I need to try and get both on the same device as it's already irritating me. He said the unit cost 35p a year to run - but don't want it taking up a plug socket. No data has come through yet - he said it would take 24 hours but with the elec one it was immediate so that feels weird.
Hope you are all well.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
