Better challenge - go to the gym 🤣🤣🤣
Playing devil's advocate here but as you can wfh a bit, have you considered a car club instead of car ownership? It does take some getting used to, it seems really expensive at first but I worked out that even a cheap say 2k car is 30 days of a car club. Thats without tax or insurance or fuel.3 -
I know exactly what you mean about having all the gadgets. I drive an automatic and would hate to go back to a manual. I really have to think if I drive one of the kids cars and wonder why it’s bunny hopping around! LTotal Debt Dec 07 £59875.83 Overdrafts £2900,New Debt Figure ZERO !!!!!!:j 08/06/2013

All being well l will continue enjoying my car for some time to come and who knows what technology will be in place by the time I come to replace it or what prices will have done by then.
EH on the £30 credit - they've said they will apply it directly to my bill within 10 days.
I will get round to cancelling the gym honest...
Really manic at work this week and last. I don't owe any hours any more and am starting to create credit. However my writing group was cancelled tonight which was a shame but also good as I felt wiped. I have a busy rest of week and am now going down south on Thursday evening after counselling... I'm going to take my work stuff with me and do some of the manic work Friday as sis will be working anyway.... Trying to fit it all in by Thursday night was really ramping up the pressure!
My cleaner is coming tomorrow and I'm hoping that she can turn my house from looking burgled again into something liveable. DD is hoping to invite some friends round one night while I'm away. She's not the party type - she just means a handful although perhaps I need to stipulate that!
We've had hail and snow here today... I also need to fill up my car with fuel before I go away and make sure I add a spade, blanket and water just in case.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Another one prompted to look at the car sales pages. Bought my diesel car new 10 years ago for around £21k and it now has 102,000 on the clock. A new one seems to be around £28k, and 3 year old ones from around £19k. Mine is worth around £3k p/ex according to Parkers but there are much older ones for sale on autotrader. Some of them are 20 years old and one had a mileage of 213,000 so it looks like I may have a while to go before I need a new one - good job as it gives me time to save up. My journeys are probably 1 or 2 miles mostly and I have to take it on the occasional longer journey just to make sure it gets a bit of a run. Luckily DH has a newish hybrid car so if we are going longer distances together we use his, and I have used hire cars occasionally for a longer journey/day out when its just me if I can find a bargain."Think of many things, do one"

Yes - I'm hoping with mine being a diesel it should go and go. I have about 62000 miles on the clock after 6 years so should be good for quite a few years yet.

Diesels are the absolute best for just keeping on going - I was gutted when I had to change my last one - in spite of her 151,000 miles she was still solid as you like in the engine, it was the fact that she would be falling foul of the upcoming ULEZ changes that made the biggest difference to me, combined with an uncertain patch of rusty bodywork where a major repair was done when she was close to brand new. (idiot lorry driver ignoring a red traffic light onto a roundabout) As a result of both of those, and the air-con compressor needing changed, I had to be a grown up and let her go...🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks EH - that's what I'm hoping.
Had fun playing with the littlies gift of nerf guns. They got a pile of them and ammo from FB for £20 for what would be £70-100 new. Tempted to buy some for me as I remain a proper child... Took sis the laptop and she was thrilled.
Cleaner worked absolute miracles. I asked her to focus on the living room, kitchen and DD's room. My house 'works' again and is a lot less stressful to be in.
Bought a nice soft top tonight for £15 at Mr Ts.
Off to see my sis tomorrow night after work and after counselling. Feels full on this week. Want to do some washing tomorrow of stuff I want to take with me. I will probably have to do some work while I'm there on Friday but hopefully will get a lie in. It's manic at work still. It should calm down but not sure when.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
