Thanks Jwil.
Well it's been a full on weekend. Ex has now remarried... It was nice to see DS as he was down for that.
I went to the tip first thing before picking up DS and visiting my sis. The drove to Mr M - got some chicken, salad and cake. Fed DS an early tea before taking him back for his train. Done loads of driving this weekend. Then I cleared more of the garage.
I got given an art desk (with built in easel today) but don't know whether or not to keep it. Not convinced it has enough leg room. i had offered my cleaner a different desk but if she wants this one for her son it could be a good option. Once I've sold the house I may sell my sit/stand desk as not convinced I need it - and not sure will have space when I move... I managed to get a couple of items on a mezzanine layer in the garage which also freed up some floor space. Need to get back to it.
I've found cupboard paint for the kitchen - need to check if it's still liquid as 3 years old. Want to touch up the cupboards ideally before Wednesday evening. Ideally I still need to paint the skirting in the ensuite.
I'm absolutely wiped tonight - so resting again now. I've been binge watching a series in between decluttering and house tarting efforts.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

You’ve been hectically busy again. Hope you get some rest this week as well as ‘doing’. 😊How are you feeling about your ex remarrying?

KK - it just feels weird. I know it's not my problem but it feels like he's rushed into it but his choices, his joys/consequences. Just concerned for my kids in it all.
Did a bit more on the garage. It's almost respectable again. I've managed to fit the new desk against a wall - and clear a bookshelf width gap on a different wall. My cleaner will take one of the spare desks which will also help. I think I'll do another tip and charity run Tuesday. I have an almost full day of meetings tomorrow so won't be possible then. Ideally I need to take a bike rack to the tip that I've lost the key for.
I've listed a piece of furniture for sale - will see if it goes. Tomorrow night I want to focus on the kitchen cupboards and hopefully paint over any stray art transfer paint then carry on with the garage. Annoyingly because of trying to sort the garage the house wasn't 'perfect' when DS came as there were charity bags in the middle of the kitchen floor etc. However he was still really impressed with the difference and loved the new things I'd bought and felt I'd staged it well.
I found an empty (!!!!) 3 drawer plastic unit in the garage so I've cleaned that off and put some stuff in it to make everything tidier - and then put the basket with the cat food on top. I've cleared some space on some garage shelves and then got some stuff off the floor onto them. That includes a huge bag of work related paperwork and personal mixed in that I need to go through at some point but I don't have the energy for that right now.
My garage seems to be the repository of all the spare bags ever created. I've put a huge amount in my car but left a lot but all stuffed inside a big laundry type bag. It's a testament to how much decluttering I've done as I have a huge amount of empty crates and boxes too... Some stackable, some not.
Once the garage is done - and until the house sells - I'll try and tackle the mini diy jobs that need doing. I need to buy some sand for the handyman to cement the tops back on the walls. I want him to put up a new washing line as mine is broken - I have it he just hasn't got around to doing it yet. I also want him to cut back the hedge along the drive - and weed. He did cut it back a month or two back but its grown hugely since then. I need to cement or similar the step from the utility into the garage back on. May paint it first though... I think I'll ring the handyman tomorrow and see if he can come and do a bit before the viewings on Wednesday evening. It's the hedge that concerns me the most as it makes the drive seem narrower and I'd like to make it seem like it would be easy to widen it.
I spotted someone coming to 'view' my house area today - I'm in a cul-de-sac so they were easy to spot. It's a nerve wracking time!! One of my friends put their house on the market this week - sold immediately - only for the guy to pull out next day. I don't know how I'd cope if that were me.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Ah, I hear you about the rushed into it thing - I hope it works out for him and by extension your children. An empty 3 drawer unit!! That must have been like finding an oasis in the desert!! 😉😊
Whether you think the house was perfect or not when your son came, it’s lovely that he could see (and probably feel) the difference 😊 You should be very proud of yourself.
Fingers crossed for the drive by … Fwiw, we did that when we were viewing - helped us eliminate a lot of properties so when we came to offer we were absolutely certain and completely followed through, a lot more than the vendor tbh 😉
Hope you have a good week 😊

Wow, loads achieved again!
Glad you had some time with DS - I'm sure a few charity bags and bits won't have impacted on the huge changes you've made to the house.

Thanks KK and Jwil
Well I've put most of the bags out on the kerb. Just hope they go now. If not I'll take them to a CS later/tomorrow.
Just received £21 in interest - always welcome.
I paid the mortgage - so now owe around £658 less.
Still really tired today and have a full on work day.
Gave some foam squares to sis yesterday. They still haven't finished some of their rooms after the move so it's pseudo carpet. Kids were happy.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Glad you saw your DS and really good that he was impressed by your efforts. It can feel a bit odd hearing about an ex's new life, you are also living your new life albeit in a different way but a way that is totally yours. You are moving (probably literally) into a brand new phase.

Thanks Blackcats - good to keep perspective.
The CS stuff got removed which is fab. I could have put a further bag out but didn't as it's been raining off and on today and wouldn't cope well with that. I filled the neighbours bin last night. It is lovely seeing things leave permanently without me refilling at a faster rate than I let go. I'm hoping I've finally learned my clutter lesson but time will tell. I've certainly taken a huge leap forwards the last couple of years. Seeing stuff leave - is motivation to continue.
I called the handyman and begged him to come - so hopefully he'll resolve a bit of loose guttering tomorrow and trim the bushes along the drive way - and maybe grout/cement the utility step.
My work meetings have been full on but productive. Just taking a quick breather.
On of my orchid's that is part of the front room display has chosen this week to lose its petals which is irritating Still will look pretty just green though. My stephanotis has used it as a climbing support so it has extra leaves and looks more visually interesting that it otherwise would.
My mortgage is now down by almost £13K since I took it out Nov 21.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
