Thanks Merlin. Glad I'm not alone.
Handyman here and sorting front hedge. Neatening it up. Doing weeding. Will replace patio lock today and sort gutter tomorrow.
He's going to do the clearance of any excess in the garage tomorrow including taking stuff to the tip. So relieved. He car boots stuff. I did ask him a couple of weeks ago but he hadn't returned.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Spent £100 on the handyman including £22 for a new door lock today. He mended my shed windows where they were threatening to fall out by putting new wood in to replace the rotten wood. The problem is I now need to paint it - but there's just been thunder and lightening so not a realistic option yet. He trimmed my hedge so it actually looks like one - and it makes my drive look wider which was the goal. He trimmed back the clematis too from next door's sky dish. He got up the weeds on the edge of the front garden. He mowed my lawn and as importantly next door's which was about 4 inches long as its a new lawn she'd been letting grow.
I've been to bnq and picked up a couple of sets of new door handles and some more fence paint. Also bought some half price bedding plants (geraniums) in pots. Even after a 15% discount - that came to £73! The handyman is going to swap over some handles tomorrow for me as I have a couple of wrong shape ones compared with the paint!! In theory he'll also do a big of weeding.
I have been wiping down surfaces but need to continue garage clearance/tidy operation. I have another 4 drawer unit that is mostly empty - so my goal at this point is to tidy things into that. I then need to go around the house and move anything else that is out of place compared with last week's photos. I'm tempted to go and buy more flowers to make it match the original photos - but that is probably over-kill and its more £ and I have to stop at some point.
I only have the 2 viewings booked so far. I don't know what's normal - I had hoped for more. Let's hope that tomorrow's viewers love it. In the past I've always sold to the first person to view - in all 3 previous owned houses... I want to keep the record
The handyman is due to take:- An unopened mini treadmill
- 1-2 desks
- A writing bureau

- A bike rack

You're doing so well and with a little help from your HM and cleaner.. it's not that long ago when you started to declutter and now we all feel there's space in your home.
Watch how much more you do spend, especially if it's permanent additions to your house and can't be taken with you, as that's eating into your profit and onward purchase.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -

Thanks Dancing, Beanie, MF, Jwil, KK and Skint for the well wishes.
The viewings are tonight from 7pm. Before that - need to shower, go to the dentist and then have a meeting and work all day. Cleaner will come and handyman. I'll then tidy up any remaining items and spot clean any areas that stand out (skirting, walls, cupboards etc).
MF - eating into my profits is a risk. Most of what I bought previously I can take with me. The house maintenance work is needed - there's no guarantee I'll sell at the right price - in which case I need to do it anyway if I'm staying. The handyman is going to replace a bracket for me on the guttering later today. My neighbour says its just pouring down the wall when we had torrential rain recently. The patio door lock had been sticking and I was worried that I'd end up being unable to lock it soon.
I have spent quite a bit from my viewpoint recently staging the house - but I love my purchases and they enhance the house - and will enhance my next home too. I am really proud I didn't give in and rent storage which is what we've always done before - that to me would have been dead money - but this way I've been forced to confront my excess /misfit purchases from yesteryear - rather like debt - and hopefully learn the lesson for good.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
