Thanks Sunshine, Lelly, Beanie and Lucielle
The handyman came - and filled half a van with stuff from my shed and garage. He was thrilled to bits. I was too. Win win. He played swap the door handle for me and effectively put handles on and off 4 set of doors so that the new ones were in rooms where the difference between them and the old ones was least noticeable. (They're shinier as they are new but the same shape). He also fitted my washing line. He didn't charge me anything for today despite being here 2-3 hours - said the stuff was his payment. The garage and shed look much better without all that stuff. My cleaner took a desk.
One viewer cancelled late afternoon but the other came. They were looking for my exact house style - as a family member has the identical one. I'd be gobsmacked if they don't offer - but I think they will try it on in terms of price so that needs thinking about. Although he was listed as a cash buyer - he needs to sell and it's not yet on the market. Apparently he doesn't need a mortgage though. They asked about my chain - and said they speak to the EA so it all sounded positive.
The bloke played find the 'creak' and bounced up and down on the stairs and checked some of the other rooms for creaks while his entourage skitted him. They seemed lovely although the one with the identical house commented mine needed updating and told me what she'd done with hers. The viewers today didn't even look in the shed. They were discussing adding a conservatory and potentially knocking two rooms through so all positive.
Thankfully they didn't go in the loft - as although it can be fitted back on - I think the hinge on the loft hatch has broken so it comes off rather than hanging down.
DD popped home briefly earlier. Good to see her.
The handyman is going to return another day and mend the rotten parts of my shed - just needs 2 new boards at the bottom. Also he will refelt the shed. I already have the replacement felt but the old one has obviously failed and needs re-doing as the counter is wet. I'm working on the basis that even if I sell quickly the legals are likely to take a while. I remember in a previous house it being done start to finish in 5 weeks - can't imagine that happening now. I am going to continue maintaining so that even if I get a decent offer if there are any hiccups further down the road - the house is still sale ready.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
