That's a really good point - the last actual reading was in April.wakeupalarm said:Your bills are based on estimated readings and maybe way out. Go read your Gas and Electric meters now and post back your readings.
Please, people,. if you want accurate bills and direct debits, read your meters!1 -
Okay thanks. But surely this monthly amount is a lot more than most people ? Does my usage look a lot ?0
-
I have even though the readings are estimated they are pretty much accurate0
-
Your direct debit is an educated guess at a 12th of your annual bill, this direct debit isn't always accurate until you have been with the company for 12 months and they can determine your usage. Once that becomes clear your direct debit will be more accurate yet that doesn't mean you cant be over or underpaying, it all depends on your usage.1

Find us some actual readings, and we will tell you more accurately. There are not many people with two rates for electricity and who also have gas, so it might be hard to compare.BevBeaver said:Okay thanks. But surely this monthly amount is a lot more than most people ? Does my usage look a lot ?
Based on those estimates, you use more than three times the amount of electricity of an average user. Something like £4000 a year just for the electricity.
Difficult to know about the gas because there's no winter in the bill.1 -
The readings since April are Estimates. You need to get into the habit of taking monthly readings and giving them to your supplier.
As Wakeup what are todays readings please ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Thanks for all your advice. I just can’t understand why it looks like my usage is more than others as I don’t use much. I don’t have heating on, don’t have tumble dryer and don’t really use much at all in the day. It’s odd.0

I take readings every month but despite this and despite emailing EDF several times they don’t seem to put them on the system !0

If the estimates are accurate as you suggest, you're using nearly 10000 kWh of electricity a year. This is huge.BevBeaver said:Thanks for all your advice. I think your next task is to work on where it's all going - there are some really good threads on here where others have been helped to do exactly that, but basically it is often anything that gets hot or cold by a lot or for a long time.2
