Is there any potential downside to opting in?

For example in this case we can save in that period by cooking a bit earlier. But tomorrow there's no particular reason for higher use during the adjustment period (14:30 to 17:30?). I am not comfortable with the idea of using power unnecessarily just to play the system. So there's a good chance we may not show much of a saving. But should I opt in anyway just in case?
I’ve opted in even though we’re out pm so can’t optimise use during the appropriate period. At least we won’t want a hot meal during turn down time.
    I can’t see any downside.

With todays session being the last, I'm going to miss these twice monthly opportunities.
Couple this with the end of the £67 credit and April's bill will be quite a hike, even with reduced spring usage and tracker tariff.

We use the saver sessions as opportunities for a "deep clean" - so thorough vacuuming everywhere, washing machine on 95C cotton cycle for good disinfection (otherwise we normally run it at 40C cycles), and ovens on pyro clean for an hour after the cooking. Today I will also try the new steam cleaner. We don't have dishwasher otherwise it too would be on an extra-hot cycle :)
Gas: warm air central heating, instant water heater, Octopus tracker
Electricity: 3kw south facing solar array, EV, Octopus intelligent

I've been opting into saving energy sessions, but didn't realise there was an 'adjustment period' of a few hours before.

Today's a pretty low price on Tracker (19.22p N Scotland) so might be worth seeing if we need any washing or drying. Aside from that all we can do is delay the dishwasher until 14:30 and make sure cooking is finished by 18:30
Why would the price make a difference? They go off energy saved not money

Those of us that save all our laundry & chores for these sessions, still pay for our electric usage, as one expects.
But a lower price on the tracker today (approx 6p/kWh lower), compared with the last saving session, means a bigger profit.
  • I’m likely to miss the whole adjustment period for this one but was able to set most of the appliances I’d normally use (heating, hot water, dishwasher, washing machine, oven, and even the coffee machine) to turn on at the right times on timers.

Will be interesting when I get home in time for the turn off to see how the “automatic” usage compares with previous sessions when I’m usually home to intervene and do extra bits like the vacuuming.
    Moo…

Switched everything on remotely but forgot to turn off the V2H so the first 30 mins of the adjustment period was a bit of a write off.  Now have both cars charging, dishwasher and washing machine running and house heated by electric rads rather than gas.  Should really put the immersion tank on boost too but that involves a trip to the loft so CBA.  May see if our oven has a burn off cleaning programme.
    I think....

I do wonder if anyone has tripped their fuse board yet with the amount of amp load.
