Approximate spend of around £370 in just one small event hallbut I did win two charity raffle prizes (a jumping spider and a mug set with 3 baby tarantulas) and I was very lucky with a mystery box and got a £90 value tarantula for £45, it's currently only 1cm long, but at 5cms they sell for £300!
Got my first ant colony, and some leaf bugs amongst other things (I have uploaded a youtube vid of my haul if people are interested).
This morning we took a trip into town:
- dropped a load of stuff at the tip
- ditto the charity shop AND didn't buy anything in there
- Went round Mr A doing a shop & scan but my phone battery died just before I got to checkout which was a pain. Had to put it all through in the conventional way, which meant a hurried toast & banana before going to:
- zumba. The lady who runs it at my usual gym is awaiting a knee op so I went to another local gym as I had been told the classes were friendly, cheap and they did zumba. Right on all counts although today was 'senior zumba' so rather a little more subdued than I'm used to, but still good to be back. I may check out the Monday one as I don't go to uni on a Monday.
- went to drum lesson
- walked back to car park through Mr T to get the last few things I didn't get in Mr A in my futile attempt to get to the checkout while phone still alive.
- Have done a bit more of a report
- sorted out a load of emailsRemember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
Gosh, I am cream crackered! I can't believe it's not even 8pm yet
1) Strip bed
2) X 2 laundry loads Did 3 in the end
3) Put away dry clothes in airer
4) Put away clean clothes in back bedroom
5) Dishwasher
6) Write Christmas cards
7) Send Christmas cards
8) Sort through the baby clothes we've been given - a good friend pointed out I'd be best off putting them into age and 'type' categories (we've got 5 tesco bags full from a different friend just hanging out in our back bedroom atm).
9) Order some vacuum bags for the above baby clothes to go into until little one arrives
10) Organise my diary for the next couple of weeks - I have a creative approach to this so tend to use lots of stickers and decorations which takes some time but is a fun creative outlet
11) Wipe down counters
12) Persuade OH to hoover
13) Swim
14) Grocery shop
15) Pick up parcel
OH was back home very late again so won't get him to hoover tonight, that can wait until Saturday. I'll pop down in a minute, make my lunch and do the counters and then retrieve the Christmas cards. Everything else can roll over until the weekend!£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January9 -
Note to self p 6
i now have new ca pets in all bedrooms. Paid extra to have the waste removed because I didn’t fancy trying to get wet carpet and crumbling underlay in my car and to the tip especially as I’m supposed to be being careful infection wise. Have vacuumed multiple times. Now we have started the slog of bringing everything back.
I also bought a plastic carpet mat for the office for the chair, at DDs suggestion - she remembered that Auntie Janice had one. So the chair will both roll properly and not leave dents.
both our beds have been stripped and remade - two birds and all that.
ETA HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE
have now caught up with Fred. Thought I would edit since no one else has posted.
So frogs have been dealt with - mould on 2 ceilings has been bleached. The cause of the mould must have been the gutters/soffits/fascias because the damp had gone. Just needed to shift the evidence. It was only very slight.I have swapped my bedside table over as the one nearest the window was somewhat bleached.
The blackout linings from the office have been discarded because I had washed them and they were foul and shouldn’t have been washed. As I bring stuff back upstairs some things might not make it…so they may be binned or donated. I took lots of new, unused lotions and potions to the CS because I have had them a good while. So excellent flingage which is, obviously, flying.
I’ve also washed the Ainsley china which lives on my bedroom window sill. Also actual flying.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Progress has been made on the Cane Toad, but only a tadpole's worth which in itself took a couple of hours. I'm fine with doing it slowly and gently because it's a massive job that would give me a great deal of satisfaction and be extremely useful once finished. At least it looks a lot better sitting in the corner it's in, rather than the pile of carp it used to be.Did a bit of vacuuming which the dog has now negated but the scruffy areas looked great much better for 24 hours.Ionafan, I can quite see why that beautiful little table knitting drawer thing would have been one of those jobs anyone would have delayed for a loooooong time. You've done it beautifully. Your idea of taking up knitting reminds me of a conversation with a lovely boyfriend I had years ago. He was a carpenter.Noises off of sawing, banging, screwing, varnishing and fixings being attached.Eric: Look, I've made a box.Me: It's lovely. What are you going to keep in it?Eric: Puppets.Me: You don't have any puppiets.Eric: I can buy some. It's been known as the Puppet Box ever since. Eric is now living back in Australia and the puppet box is in the attic containing my nearly complete collection of large scale OS maps I bought at auction decades ago for a song. I absolutely love them, they should be decluttered but I just can't. Friends who know about the collection ask if the individual named house they grew up in is on it. They very often are. I love maps.Better is good enough.10

Very nice iona!
Evening all, I tackled a big job today, one I've been meaning to tackle this for a while, cleaning out my wardrobes.
The before...all my clothes
After...
Pile for donation/binning, depending on condition, and tidied wardrobeI have a lot of clothes I've been waiting to re-wear when I finally lose this weight again. But I decided by then I'll probably want a new wardrobe anyway. My tastes have changed, I used to like dresses, but now I think I look better in seperate skirts & tops.
I also found a couple of unopened packs of tights, which is great as mine are getting holes. (For some reason all on the left foot)
Also:
~Rung the pension people, our work place changed owner, so I have a pot under the old owner and a pot under the new (same pension comp), I want them both together. I can see the old pot as I have the log in details, but haven't recieved anything for the new one yet. It's now in the post.
~Texted a couple of people that needed texting (I haven't heard from my music tutor for a couple of months after he cancelled a session when he was sick. I'm a little worried about him.)
~Glued some fake leaves to an old phone case. My phone is red and I think it scares the chameleon when I'm taking pics/vids, so I'm hoping disguising it will help.
~Placed a meat order to restock the freezer
~Updated my tarantula spreadsheet with the new purchases and printed labels for thier enclosures. (I've called the new Curly hair Larry, as my other one is called Curly. If I ever get another it will be named Mo)
Tomorrow I have to meet with the run coach, rehouse the big mumma scorprion and may attempt to breed my Mexican red knees. I also need to chop some fresh brambles for the leaf insects.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Impressive wardrobe tidying Raphael.
- finished and emailed a report
- filled lots of bird feeders
- did 3 flower arrangements; one for lounge, one small centrepiece for dining table and one in guest room.
- read and input meter readings
- booked for Monday's zumba at newly-discovered leisure centre
- rang my Mum
- started making food for visitors: we had stuffed cornbread, chard (from garden), broad beans and butterbean mash followed by apricot and plum (latter from garden) tarte tatin. And too many chocolates. Also have a chilli base filling up the slow cooker as 3 more dinner guests arrive tomorrow; will probably do enchiladas, rice and salad followed by blackberry and apple crisp. As the two men will be helping Mr N put up the new fence panel in the afternoon, I plan to make a cake tomorrow - should have done it while the range was on today but it got too chaotic watching the other food.
Tomorrow is light breakfast with guests then I'll head for the lake while they (and Mr N) visit other local friends. That should give me time to make the cake and do a bit more work before they all return for tea. Enough stuffed cornbread left over for my lunch!
Have a good weekend people.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Ah Honey Bear…I covered a notebook and a box file with pages from a road atlas destined for recycling, decoupage style. Most of the stuff is back upstairs but there has been more flingage. Got a bag for CS, some art materials for a Great Nephew, and a bedside table listed on Facebook. For free.
The Aged Ps have been to admire the carpets. And the paintwork.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Valli said:Wanders around looking for biscuits…Morning all
Wide awake with all the jobs on my mind I absolutely need to do today. Too early to make a cuppa sadly as it will wake the puppy who will in turn wake the whole house….I’ll report back later with hopefully a very long list of achievements xx8 -
Morning all. Hope you're all ok today.
Sorry I've not been posting. I've been very busy with paid stuff although I have done some flying and taken time out to start a new book.
Today I have cleaned out the fridge. I'm just having breakfast then I'll get ready for DGD1 arriving.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.9
