Loop completely messed things up for me.

They decided to stop inviting me to events part way through the scheme because I'd opted out to other marketing (I didn't opt out of the turn down and save stuff though.)

I've not had a voucher and I guess they'll probably not bother sending me one even though I did take part in multiple events before they messed things up.

I guess, with this sort of thing, there's nowhere for me to refer a complaint, unlike properly regulated energy providers.
Have you referred your complaint to Loop themselves and if so what did they say?

Are you sure you mean loop. In any case each event you took part in you would have received a post event email with what you saved from loop and your total.

Find that email and send it to their support email address.

  • And it appears we are back, people!

I've not looked into the detail yet but are we to understand it's the same as last time i.e. the 3 hour window is the gauge that the "turn down" hour is against?

There's no in-day adjustment this time. You'll be measured against your previous consumption over (nominally) ten days.

My energy company, OVO, has now offered me the chance to participate. The problems without prior notification of the saving, I don’t know whether to go with Loop or OVO.

Hugo seem to be most up front about payment from the companies I've seen, but are still working on a theoretical £3, stating that it still a figure that isn't confirmed as yet. And I get the sense that they think figure may also change after the first six sessions too. The bidding did give out some different payments last year too iirc, depending on how much demand there was that day.

British Gas have said that they will be emailing/texts certain customers on the day to see if they want to sign up for sessions, so you can't even be sure to take part beforehand. Meaning it's probably better to go with one of the apps. Though they are offering to at least bump any payment up to a quid if you don't make enough of a saving, as long as you cut your energy use by 30% in order to qualify. As I am such a low user, I very rarely use above 0.13kWh per hour, it's makes sense for me to go for the BG offer as I'll get at least a quid per session. But I'd rather they let you definitely sign up to it from the start.
  • Just had an invite to the Uswitch one, is any particular one of these better than the other? I used loop and then Uswitch last time

Uswitch paid full amount last time whereas some of the others took 20% cut.
  • I only joined Loop in August and the most successful outcome you could achieve from a Turn Down & Save event then was to be entered into a prize draw.  Since I didn't win I was not very impressed.

If there is no 3 hour window this time I doubt that I'll bother.  I only use 3 - 4 Kwh a day so I don't think it's going to be worth the hassle.
