  • Uswitch app says 6:30-7:30 tomorrow
  • I’ve been using loop since the beginning, but I seem to be late to the party in knowing how to maximise reward? I’ve literally just been turning off in the scheduled times, but from reading on here you should be using more energy just before the event? Uswitch are paying the full amount to customers, so I’m thinking of leaving loop now after having done tonight’s one, and do the last couple on Uswitch? Can anyone clarify please what I should be doing to get the most out of it? Think I have about £40 collected so far
  • Just got email from loop also confirming 6:30-7:30 tomorrow

In a nutshell, use more in the period between 4 and 1 hour prior to the event. So for tomorrow, do as much as you can between 14:30 and 17:30 ready for the event at 18:30. Then use as little as possible between 18:30 and 19:30.

Should I be worried that despite doing my level best to burn as much electricity as possible between 2 and 5 today, Loop is showing that I've only used 0.4kWh for the whole day?  Don't particularly want to go for an all out power surge agian tomorrow if they are going to bounce it cos the meter isn't feeding in.

Ok great, so should I deliberately use more than I normally would, or just time things so I do it during those hours? Do you earn more from the cashback than the energy it costs, so basically use as much energy as you can, or is that just being silly?

Maybe think of doing those occasional tasks that should be done now and then, give the washer a good old boil up 90C cleaning cycle, same for dishwasher. Treat yourself to an oven cooked casserole or maybe baked potatoes, full roast dinner, you get the idea.

  • Is the 1-4 hours thing also with the other providers? I’ve moved to Uswitch for tomorrows one as they pay the full £3

Although it is possible to earn more from the cashback than the energy you use, it's worth thinking about the impact on the environment of wasting energy to make money. If you look back through this thread, folks are making money by switching use to the in day adjustment period (to give the 4 to 1 hour period it's proper name) that they would have done anyway. @Alnat1 gives some good examples above.

The 1 to 4 hours things is a National Grid thing and determines how National Grid pays the providers. AFAIK most providers use this to calculate the payment to their customers although I don't think they are actually obliged to. (Be good if someone who knows more about this can correct me if that's wrong).
