Got some nice reduced things in the Co-op tonight just before they closed. Cheap bread, cheap strawberries, cheap milkshake - OK, yes, I know that is scarcely an essential, but DD likes it.
And the OH is trawling ASDA for even more bargains as I type. I wish she'd hurry up and get home - I am starving and I'll feel mean if I don't wait for her.0 -
This is the lovely scene we awoke to this morningMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Mama, beautiful picture. No snow around us today thou thankfully as I have to drive into work later. DS and OH got up early to watch the grand prix. MIL is preparing a special Easter morning breakfast; a cultural tradition. And a meal at aunty's tonight and my sister is taking DS back with her for a few days.DS has just opened his Easter present from Granny. A lovely warm fleecey top, some thick casual trousers, and long sleeved t shirt. And an Easter Egg with his name on. Very happy with this.Sorry to hear about the troubles that some of you are having. I have a work issue to sort out with my pay. They have sent a letter confirming my pay 'rise' makes my salary lower than it has been for the past six months. I understand how they've calculated it but I'm not sure that they can legally do what they want, or whether they've done it accidentally or intentionally. So I expect I'll have to give ACAS a call. OH has a sore throat and is using up all my cheap ibuprofen. Apparently the only cure is orange juice, warm water, honey and a dash of sherry. Good thing he's not driving this holiday period.Six parcels arrived yesterday from play.com etc with stuff I'd ordered from OH's present wish list. So he is looking at me with puppy-like begging eyes wanting pwessies rather than putting some away for Xmas. (He'll be okay when they're out of sight). Trouble is, I'm wanting to be ultra generous and give them to him. So am having to write out the prices and work out what the original bday budget was, and then I'll let him have it up to the budget. I will be strong, I will be strong. Got to shower now as brekkie is nearly ready.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Just like th eview from our house Mama. Its so beautiful and at least in the country we don't get the horrible slushy stage when the snow melts.
DS and wife are off home shortly leaving our cupboards bareWill miss them as we probably won't get to see them for a few months now.
I am giving them some soap nuts to try as they are both very ecologically minded.DS is a bit iffy about believing whether they will actually work
My Mum gave me and DH a big box of Thorntons for Easter and I was tempted to put them away to use as a present later in the year but having checked the expiry date, they have to be eaten by May 2008
Have a nice choclatey day fellow frugallers.0 -

Morning fellow frugaltes, so envious of all you people waking to lovely snow. We have light winds and sunshine this morning
.
Not a choccy egg in sight here this year as we are eating healthily at moment, and DD has already scoffed hers
Making Easter roast for my oldies this afternoon, and have just sent OH round the building posting them all an Easter card which I bought in the sales last year 6 packs of 10 for 60p in total:D , worth it to give them a little smile. I find it so sad that at family times like this that many of my oldies never see their families, it is just anoother day to them:mad:
Hope you all have a great day:D0 -
All these lovely snowy pictures this morning:D
Looks like we will be having another windy day today. Still, I can dry more washing as long as it doesn't end up three roads away!
My DS has gone to his dads for the week so I'm deturmind to tackle his bedroom this week. I opened the door yesturday to a sea of discs and their opened boxes strewn across the floor:eek: I'm moving him into the spare room....which he is in favour of...and using his room as another sitting room/music room. He has so much stuff, ie EX Box, PSP2 Wii etc, that it all has to be sorted out and some of it carbooted.
I'm at work this evening and then tomorrow, then I'm using the last of my annual leave so won't be back at work until Saturday night.:D
By the way Janey. We get paid double time, plus lieu days, so check out that you are not being fiddled. Rules may differ within other Councils, but It's always been double time for Good Friday and Bank holiday Monday.
The lamb...thanks to BF's father....is roasting gently in the oven, so I am off to prepare the veg.
HAPPY EASTER!:EasterBunLiving a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T
