Happy Easter everybody!
Well, you have all been so busy posting here that I don't know where to start, so here goes with the memory test... (Who needs Nintendo when we have frugaltendo!)
Sorry to hear about the damage to cars and Marky's Freezer problems.
Spend-attacks, deflatedness and 'oh, beggar, what's the point?' attacks are all common and they seem to arrive around the time of the full moon, reflecting their true following of the lunar cycle, Any money you are compelled to spend, fight the urge with your Billy Can until you recover in around 48 hours time. The money saved is 'lunacy' dosh!
Back soon, someone just arrived.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Thanks guys. I'm waiting till 1:30 when the emergency dentist opens, and then I'll see what they suggest. Hope that they will see me today as it is qetting quite uncomfortable. The town I'll have to go to has cheaper petrol than my area, so I guess its not all bad! Aside from some direct debits, I haven't spent anything since I joined this challenge- a vast improvement! I used to waste a lot of money on random junk. So thank you for inspiring me! Today's mission is a hunt for the piggy banks I had as a child. Then I'll start collecting all my spare change.0

Back again
Blustery and sunny here and I nipped home at lunchtime to bring in the washing in case it took flight and landed in the next county.
Prudent - well done on the £500+ savings on the holiday! :T
Bleufleur - hope all goes well at the dentist.
I haven't spent anything but feel as though I cheated this week after houseshare bought a £1.99 carton of milk and then DS came home with 2 loaves (he thinks 2 Hovis for £2 was a bargain  ) because he doesn't like toasting frozen breadI decided that this time, they could all suit themselves and it if meant spending on bread and milk then let them. Saves me £4!
Hope you're all fending off the 'spenderbenders'.
Mini_Huny - Breadmakers I cannot comment on as I don't have one, but I work from home a great deal of the time, so I can fit handmaking it into the schedule. I now have a much better routine baking 3 or 4 loaves at a time evey week or so and freezing them. [STRIKE]Punching[/STRIKE] kneading dough can be quite therapeutic sometimes!
Sophiesmum - keep up the good work with the savings in lieu of electricity and don't be scared to increase them - my electricity's now looking more like £40+ a week with the cold weather we've been having!
DGD has gone off to her other grandparents for the Easter hols and I'm off to visit parents & gran tomorrow, weather permitting. I can't imagine finding anything to spend on other than the journey (£20) and a quick whizz around the new Asda for some essentials and/or bargains.
Going surfing now, to search for all these houses appearing on the market around here. Guess the owners are thinking start of spring, sell by summer. Hmm...I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

The money saved is 'lunacy' dosh!
LUNACY DOSH is a great concept. I'm another one with the urge to buy a breadmaker even though i don't eat that much bread- in my case I think it's from reading posts from people with real reasons to buy BMs. If I just think 'lunacy dosh' it's like one of Harry Potter's magic spells - the urge goes away. Thanks, Nyk... :T

Ha ha, I love the idea of 'Lunacy Dosh!' as a Harry Potter spell - do you think if I start shouting that at objects that are tempting me in various stores I might get carted off though? A few days with my hands tied behind my back would certainly curb my spending abilityThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

If it helps, the full moon was yesterday, so the dreaded 'lunacy dosh' spell should be breaking by now. However, don't be surprised if it lingers longer because of Easter. Full Moon is a very testing time for Billy Cans :rotfl:
Bails, d'you think if I yelled it three times it would fill my billy can with the stuff???
Sorry, I now have a rather strange picture in my mind of the frugalite version of Macbeth, dancing around a huge cauldron of hm soup and, instead of hubble, bubble, toil & trouble, everyone's chanting 'lunacy dosh'. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
ps: I mean the witches are dancing, not MacbethI reserve the right not to spend.

Nyk, what's that icon like a stressed-out gingerbread man to the left of your message, underneath the bit where it says how many times you've been thanked? I ran my mouse over it and it said 'send a message via AIM' but I don't know what (or who!) AIM is. An Industrious Moneysaver? Is it like PM-ing? Sorry to be so ignorant, I never noticed it before.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

I think it must be the AOL Instant Messenger as I haven't filled in details for Yahoo, MSE etc. It's like private chat boxes. I clean forgot that was there and have never used it.I reserve the right not to spend.

Evening All...
What a month! my mum's still really poorly but at least she's out of hospital now, she prefers the comforts of home and it stops my dad being bored! My dad's not been too well either which is rubbish.. he's still waiting for an op which he should have had a few years ago but can't afford to go private..
Work were kind enough to refund me my car hire... not sure why! Something to do with some allowance or other.. so that's a bit of relief. Still smarting about how much people are charged to park at hospitals. Think i might start a one woman campaign lol, tie myself to a barrier somewhere perhaps.
I've been so busy I've not had time to buy a thing.. i went into asda yesterday with my tenner and got 8 smart price dinners and a bag of smart price bananas... roll on Thursday for payday! Sitting here typing helps keep my mind off the fact i'm bluddy hungry! i'm not back at work til then so it should be okay.......
I've spent most of today removing woodchip out of the smaller spare room - hoping to re-paint and plaster it so that i can take in a student/trainee nurse/lodger for a bit to help with the rising bills.. council tax has gone up 15 a month!!
OH moved in (not sure for how long, might never leave!) yesterday, and already my house is spotless! i'm ashamed to say i don't wash pots if i can help it...!
I hope everyone's having a good easter break..
