Evening all,
Absent by design yesterday, as work has been full on, and then we were out with friends in the evening. On a school night, I know. I joined YL in the WAC at 4.30am this morning, having kept Iona company the night before.
Started the day proper with a Mr M delivery at 7am, off to work at 7.15 for another full on day. Cuppa soup flung down throat at 2pm, came home starving, but made myself do HHI (polishes halo smugly 😇), put a load of washing on, sort airing cupboard, put remaining Mr M bits away, and do 15minutes work out. Polishes halo again… Quick dinner of poached egg on toast, and I am now done with today.
Friends coming to stay tomorrow for the weekend. Flying is likely to be limited until Sunday.8 -
Builders arrived promptly and seem to be getting on ok, they tidied up well even though they are back tomorrow. A worrying discovery in that apparently the flue from the gas fire (imitation coal-burning stove) is blocked. We'd already left a message with the engineer to have it serviced while it's out of position (builders have re-pointed and rendered fireplace), so he can fit it back in. Apparently there is a new regulation that they have to be fitted with stainless steel flue - hopefully as this was fitted 30 yrs ago, the new rule won't apply and the engineer can just clear it (bird nest? who knows). We don't use it a lot so a huge flue bill won't be welcome. While one builder was doing the fireplace, the other has moved one of the upstairs cupboard doors, new one is a much better size and position for accessibility. He will do the other tomorrow.
Fence panel has been delivered. We have a tall strong friend staying for the weekend next week, so he has already been warned he will earn his dinner helping Mr N put the fence up!!
Assessed today's student, really difficult thought patterns and results so rather disheartening; it will involve a Zoom meeting with my manager I think to decide what I can do/say. What with that and the new room they have put me in this year which I don't like, I may take more interest in my pension discussion on Monday.
Went to drum lesson.
Went to Mr T.
Bought several cards for imminent birthdays/retirements.
Collapsed in a heap on the sofa, really shattered. Certainly wasn't up to full moon swimming this evening - it was cloudy anyway.
Checked bank account.
Emailed mother of next week's private assessee.
Weekend plans to be busy as I now have 4 reports at various stages of needing writing up, the wardrobe to cull and clean, new wardrobe plan to write down a bit more coherently, pension documents to make easily accessibly for Monday and next week's assessment paperwork to prepare.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -

There was a wonderful cartoon called Ogri in Bike magazine a few years ago, and my favourite snippet was a snail next to a wheel with the caption 'Striving to keep up.' That'll be me.Ionafan thank you so much for the pillowcase idea. I sent four full ones flying down the stairs the day before yesterday. I have no idea why it hadn't occurred to me before. Two loads washed and mostly line dried, finished off in the kitchen overnight. Today's looking a bit overcast so I'll leave the next load until tomorrow which is due to be brighter.Thank you Pigpen for the Age UK suggestion. I'll look into that.I overdid it on Wednesday again, had to do more than was a good idea yesterday and have to go out again today so I'm not doing much at the moment. I will, however, get some easy dusting done. I think the landing and stairs are a good place to start and it'll make me feel a lot better.Better is good enough.8

Morning everyone, just a quick one before I get showered.
I've sent the card PM's out to the respective people. We have 9 people this year which is nice 👍
If you haven't received the pm and you think you should have done, please can you let me know.

Hi all
Very full on week at the paid stuff so I am shattered. My assistant is now on holiday for a week, I am only at the paid stuff 4 days next week and I have a ridiculous amount to do. DS starts his new Crohn's treatment on Monday too and I said I would go to hospital with him. Ah well, its weekend now (I just need to be at the Remembrance Parade on Sunday but I dont mind that).
Clean washing taken off the airer and put away, I called at Li@l so the shopping is also put away. Fire lit and waiting for DH to come home, its a very quick tea for us tonight.
I could do a bit more flying but I just cant face the thought of moving off this sofa.10 -
SO TIRED!!!
Grandpinks room is painted.. my helper fell asleep!
Gloss and walls and ceiling all done.. going next week to wallpaper and to put the carpet down. I have a couple of light shades I am taking and a couple of big mirrors which I will get on the wall.
I now have to do dinner, the DW, sort the swimming bag and dance class bags, clear the table, empty the bins and try not to fall asleep on the hob. Fold some washing, hang some up, vacuum the hallway and put the cupboards/kallax back in their right places..
Hazel is declining fast.. I will be surprised if she sees christmas at this rate, I'm just hoping she has eaten weird things.

Today I did mainly 1 thing only - finished a report and emailed it. It wasn't an easy task I must say, with builders drilling and banging not to mention they have to leave the front door open all day as they are in and out constantly, so even though it is mild outside, when you're sitting typing all day it feels cold. However, they have finished and we are impressed. The 2 cupboards under the eaves are now much more accessible and just need painting; the gaps where the old doors were have been plastered over and can be painted in a few days. The old and messy brickwork behind the imitation woodburner has been rendered and is drying nicely, ready to paint before too long. Gas engineer located and booked for about 10 days time, which should give us enough time to have painted. Mr N plans to poke a long stick up the flue to see if it just sticks dropped by birds which are obstructing it.
I've caught up on a bit of admin.
Filled bird feeders.
Agreed to help make coffee for the village on Sunday - well, whichever villagers come to the remembrance service.
Tomorrow after swimming I plan to begin the wardrobe contents cull............wish me luck.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
Three down three to go … I’m halfway through my chemo.
Next one is different … my pre meds have changed. Now it’s four tablets at a time and starting earlier and 12 hours apart. Last time it was 6 little ones and 1 big one an hour before treatment. I’ll have to write it down. Also when the nurse took my headgear from me he didn’t give me the chinstrap. So that’s going to have to be replaced.
Flying WM x 1 - that was the throw from the LR which I left on the line.DW x 1 and emptied
bed stripped and remade
