Have you tried one that is designed to teach children "how-to" they seem to take more care with those.  I have found adult things tend to miss bits out.
No, I just Google it on YT. I can understand what she is saying to do, but I just can't seem to do it properly, due to the fact I don't think I can get the gist of holding it correctly.  I know I could do it when I was about 15, I remember doing squares for the St Johns Ambulance brigade fayre.  But not done it since and now completely forgotten.  I might look for a kiddies "how to", great idea.

I used a Bella Coco video to relearn to crochet a couple of years ago.  I can't do much at a time due to arthritis in my fingers and thumb joints so it's easier than doing knitting for me.

I often find it easier to learn from a book as I can go at my own pace. You could get some beginner's crochet books next time you are at the library?

I learnt 60 yrs ago from a childrens book I bought in Bachers, a fabric shop in central manchester where I used to go every Friday lunchtime & buy fabric, make myself a dress & wear it Saturday night.  I used to finish the seams properly another time if I decided it was a keeper.  Material was a lot cheaper back then.
  • Very talented @badmemory. That was one thing I was never good at. I hated needlework at school

I too hated needlework at school but probably for totally different reasons.  We did it when I was 13.  Going back to making aprons that took a whole term to make when I was already making proper clothes was just so boring.  Still I did learn to use a treadle.  I was lucky in my grandmothers as one taught me to dressmake & one taught me to knit.  Funnily enough they never taught my younger sister.

Brilliant, well done.  It will give you a bit more wiggle room to pay off the debts without having to make the mortgage payments.
