It really is a lovely feeling to finally be free of a mortgage after umpteen years of monthly payments, re-mortgages,interest rate fluctuations etc etc.
fascinating that the Latin root words are mort (death) and gage (pledge). 🥴Making the debt go down and savings go up

Well what a damp & dismal day it has been today. Foggy this morning but weather app showed sunshine for later, so I washed the towels and no sun appeared and it stayed misty and damp all day. So towels had to go in the dryer on economy program. Couldn't have a whole load of towels hanging everywhere. Don't mind when its a few thinner bits, but towels take so long.
Walked to the village this morning to post Christmas cards, and a parcel, and take plastic recycling to the local C00p. They had been closed for a week for a refurb, but TBH, all they have done is moved stuff around and put new fridges in. Still as expensive as ever!
Then the rest of the day was cleaning the bathroom and doing some studies and I made a crumble from the cheap apples I got yesterday, with some blackberries I had in the freezer from our autumn foraging. So think we'll just have soup for dinner tonight with some of the crumble after.
Just about to cash out from P/fc, looks like some has approved at last and I had a couple of good ones today as well. Also had some good ones on 1P*ll, and Qm**
Other than that, a pretty quiet day. Tomorrow is DH's pay day. So a bit more shuffling and working out this mortgage getting paid.
Have a good evening all,.Making the debt go down and savings go up

So another really dark and wet day/ Surely it can't be long till Spring. DH has gone down with the dreaded cough, lurgy thing. I told him yesterday he sounded rough, but he assured me he was fine....men are useless at knowing when they are coming down with something. Anyway, I have told him to stay in the spare room and wear a mask if he goes in the bathroom and I will wear one when I take him food up. I can't afford to catch it, got far too much to do and we go away on the 21st.
So today was DH's pay day. I am glad he still gets paid weekly. I have sent another £100 OP to the mortgage, just £700 left now. Still can't believe it.
I've sorted out the final presents for DGKs and just got to get the money to give them as well, that will come out my pension on Monday.
Had some great surveys and studies again today and got quite a bit to cash out of P/fc later. Just waiting to see if any more approves.
My friend sent me a Christmas present and it is covered in so much bubble wrap, so that is put into my stash. she doesn't do Christmas wrapping, so just puts it in a box in the normal paper bag it was bought in, and then covers it in bubble wrap to post in a reused box. Its not that she is trying to be sustainable, just that she hates Christmas.....lol. So I have just left it in the bag and box and will take it with us when we go away.
I've just made some of the vitamin C thing that Nancy B recommends, tastes lovely, its lemon, orange, apple, ginger, honey and tumeric. DH said he didn't like it. I didn't tell him it had tumeric in it or he would have said that was the reason...he thinks tumeric is the devils food....well, that and eggs.....lol. Anyway, I told him it was good for him in some hot water and he should have it in a shot of cold water every morning instead of vitamin C supplement. We'll see if hw does. I am going to try it for a while anyway.
Just got some more apples and pears to stew, and some granola to make, which I intended to do yesterday, but never got round to it. But just thought I'd have a 10 min sit down and catch up on here, as I've been hoovering and steaming the kitchen floor and cleaning out the steamer as it seemed to be leaking. Hoping it will be ok now. We've had it a few years and it does seem to not steam so well lately, but don't really want to get a new one unless I have to.
Well that's it for now. Off to make granola and do dinner. Tonight its mince and veg from freezer, on a jacket spud.

What a stormy day. Hope you are all staying safe, dry and warm. I have no plans to go out today. Went to the butcher for a chicken yesterday, which I will cook tomorrow and we have plenty in freezer for today. Mr S delivery coming on a saver slot 6-10am tomorrow. Dh thinks I am mad to get one for that early, but I would rather get up early to save money. Its only £1 delivery charge. Soon as I change it to 7-11am, it goes up to £2. They will email the 1 hour slot first thing anyway, so it may not come till later, but at least if I'm up I can be doing other things....like Wordle or reading...lol
DH is still feeling rough and coughing loads, but we have done a test and its not covid. I'm still making him stay in the spare room so he doesn't spread germs.
Had a delivery from the Big River site just now. I ordered 2 normal size paper back books, for presents. So normal sized books, and the box they were delivered in measured 12" x 15"!!! Do they not have small boxes in the warehouse? I know its cardboard and can be recycled or kept for reuse, but it still seems excessive.
P/fc has been excellent the last few days. This morning I had the 2nd part of one from yesterday and then shortly after that, a nice £10 one popped up. Now waiting for over £32 to approve and already got at least £7 I can cash out today, to add to what I have already had this month. Not had a month as good as this for ages, and certainly never had one getting this amount so early on in the month. Although I'm sure it will all slow down just before Christmas.
Also done a couple of 1P*!! surveys. Up to about 1700 points on there, so need to get to 2000 to cash out.
So now to sort out some lunch, before DH tells me he is starving....lol.
Then I think an online exercise session and some jigsaw puzzle. Might have another go at the teach myself to crochet thing....I tried yesterday, but didn't get on too well. I can see what she is trying to show me to do, but I don't seem to be holding it correctly and it seems more difficult. I'm sure it will come with practise though.
I've also got some books I could sit and cuddle up and read...it really is that sort of day. Or maybe I will do some of my online free OU course...who knows. I am definitely not doing housework today though.
Have a good day everyone

Have you tried one that is designed to teach children "how-to" they seem to take more care with those. I have found adult things tend to miss bits out.
