That is a lovely early Christmas present. It is a great feeling to completely own your home.

That’s brilliant news 🥳 I had a really old frozen pension from a previous employer and they decided to close the scheme a few years ago. Rather than reinvest a fairly small amount I cashed it in and it paid to have some work done on the house.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

We've only ever bought the scones - and only once - they were really dry and not nice at all so now just have our hot drinks every month! In fact we're off to get ours today after DH's hospital appointment as it's fairly close by so no special trip needed!1

Hey, @Makingabobor2, that is wonderful news about the mortgage. You will get that last chunk paid off - extra motivation now, I bet, & I can honestly tell you that making the last payment & getting that piece of paper confirming that it's all paid off? It feels amazing. You don't really take in how long you have been paying that big monthly wodge of money until you no longer have to do so. Great news, anyway.

Good afternoon all, another very cold day here. I'm hoping I can turn the heating off a bit more tomorrow, its been on all day the last 3 days. Not sure I even want to look at the reading next month. Still at least we are away for a week over Christmas, so that should hopefully make up for a bit.
Thank you all so much for your nice comments on us getting the mortgage down. I logged into the mortgage company app today and checked they had accounted for the OP and there it was showing just £2K left to pay. I am so excited. Its strange how back in the spendy era, I would have got excited about booking a big holiday to Florida when we actually had no money to pay for it, and now I am getting excited about paying bills and saving pots.....lol.
On the subject of savings pots, today the EF finally reached the grand total of £1K. I am now extending the target to £2K and will just keep going with it.
DH went out to look for his new bike today, he had already seen one he liked and wanted to test ride it. Decided to buy it, so just waiting on the garage doing a service on it or something and they will let him know when he can collect it. He even managed to negotiate the price down a couple of hundred, so that's good news as well. He checked the tax and it is a lot cheaper than the old one and also the insurance is cheaper as well. He asked me how he should pay the insurance and I was pleased to be able to tell him that our Annual Insurance saving pot, has more than enough money in it to cover it. He can even pay the tax in one go as well and the amount we currently pay for it, can go to the pot for future use. I can't believe we actually have savings pots with money in these days. Fancy having to wait until you are getting on in years for this to happen though. I earnt a good salary in my 40's and yet, we just wasted it....so stupid. If I thought my kids were doing that now, I would be mortified!
A few good studies from P/fc today, just waiting for money to approve. Not had time to check any of the other survey sites yet, but will do in a bit. Still waiting for the £25 from Op*n**m to arrive. Been 18 days now. @Sun_Addict, didn't you cash out from them a while back? How long did yours take to arrive?
DH had a couple of parcels arrive yesterday and I have nabbed all the bubble wrap for my stash. That's another thing I would never have thought of in the old days, saving wrapping and making gift tags etc. I just love it now. I even managed to get a freebie pair of pinking shears from DMIL a while back, so I can make tags and bits & bobs.
I also got 3 crochet hooks from her, as I was intending to teach myself how to crochet.. Used to do it when I was about 16, but can't remember now. I will get round to it now with winter coming. I have just started on knitting another blanket of squares, but this one is for us and not for GKs. We have small fleece blankets on the sofa, but I thought a knitted one would be warmer. Although DH says winter will be over before I finish it. I can't do too much in one go, or my wrist starts to hurt where I broke it last year and my arthritis plays up in fingers. but I'm sure the exercise is good for them.
Todays dinner is diced chicken from the freezer stocks done in the slow cooker with LOADS of veggies and should be enough for another day as well. I am doing really well with house keeping budget this period. So hoping it continues. On 11 NSD's so far this month as well, which is motivating me to do better every month. In fact I am already really looking forward to starting some challenges on here for next year.
Off to look for a few more surveys now before dinner. Stay warm everyoneMaking the debt go down and savings go up

Well done on getting your EF up to £1000; good idea to just carry on building it alongside the other pots. I'd be lost without all my pots!
Not long until you're mortgage free too, so exciting! I know I was when we made the final payment!1 -
