Is there anything I can do with some cream that's turned sour, apart from throw it out!
Any advice appreciated.0 -
Hi kittykat,
I know some people use milk that's on the turn for scones, soda bread and panackes. This thread might help:

Anyone any ideas what to do with half a cupful of double cream which has gone off, was ok yesterday.
It was 21p in tesco, seems a shame to chuck away.
thanks0 -
Chuck it in a curry? I would, soured cream must be similar?
Depends how off it is, I guess but I'd say it'd fine in a curry or maybe even stroganoff but it's up to you whether you can eat it or not, I'll probably get in trouble for advising you to eat off food! lolJune Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

You could use it up by making a batch of scones, chuck it in along with some milk to make it the right consistency.Thats what I usually do with mine;)0

I'll probably go with the curry idea as I have curry paste, and rice in, and no meat, so the cream could provide my protein.
It was ok yesterday, but curdled when I added it to coffee today, so newly turned.:rotfl:
thanks again0 -
Fry some onions till sweated.
Boil some rice.
Boil some crushed cashew nuts, add 1tsp pataks curry paste of your choice, so the nuts taste nice. Add some of this curry, nut water to the onions in the frying pan, mix with onions, boil, reduce. Put a couple of tablespoons by to fry with rice.
Take off heat, add cream, boil a few mins.
Rinse the rice with cold water and fluff up.
Fry with a bit of the liquid put by.
Add 3tsp pataks curry paste to half cup of double cream.

I have a really old book called 'Cookery Illustrated and Household Management'. Sadly no date in it. There is a whole section devoted to Keeping down the Household Bills, which includes 2 sectons named Making the most of Leftovers and Dodges to Prevent Waste!.
It lists the following- Sour milk cheese
- Sour milk scones
- Sour milk girdle scones
- Sour milk gingerbread
- Spiced Raisin Cake
Ya just get on with it, don'cha
I don't know how I've managed without reading this from cover to cover. There's a chapter on 'Entertaining without a Maid'!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
