Help - Milk has gone off..... ( sour milk or cream )

Is there anything I can use off milk for? I've got about 2 pints of it which only turned this morning and I haven't room for lots of scones :rotfl:

I would usually just pour it away but I figured I should use it in something. Could I freeze it and then use it to make scones at a later date?

    Freeze the scones ;)

Make savoury scones (bacon; cheese; plain; herb)
Make sweet scones ( cinnamon; fruit; honey)

You can also make one large, round, plain scone ... freeze it ... then use it as a base for Scone Based Pizza :D

    HTH :)

Or soda bread (white, brown, fruit) - people say it should be eaten fresh but I find it lovely toasted, especially the fruit one.

Or Scotch pancakes make good use of it, they freeze well and are very space efficient.

You can freeze the turned milk so long as it's not too cheesy. Save it in 1/2 pint quantities for soda bread or 1/4 pint quantities for scone dough, so that you can use it up when you want.

It turned out to be 3 pints of milk out of a 6 pint bottle  . That will teach me to think "Oh, we'll easily drink that by then"

I've made 20+ plain scones; approx 20+ fruit scones; 2 large flat scones to make pizzas in the near future; 2 large scones turned into garlic bread (both will have to be frozen as we're all full to bursting) , 1 batch of dough into the freezer & one batch to make a stuffed based pizza for tea. My kitchen looks like the inside of a windmill which grinds flour :o There's dishes piled next to the sink but I'm worn out so they will have to wait for now, at least the mixing bowl is in to soak. I've not only used up the milk but also mozarella, goats cheese; plain flour; bicarb; cheddar cheese (which was grated but turning "sweaty"), tomato puree and made a dent in a jar of passata I opened on Sunday for a meal but hardly used any so it needs to be used up. The rest of the passata can be put in the freezer later.

For someone who doesn't like scones my OH is packing them away. Between him and DD I'd better be off to resuce some for the freezer!

Frozen scones can be thawed in the microwave, try 1 minute and see if that's enough. You can 'refresh' scone by just giving them 30 secs, they taste like freshly baked.
  • Has anyone got any ideas of what I could use 2 pints of Full cream milk which has turned sour for?
Pouring it down the sink seems a dreadful waste.

I seem to remember a recipe for soda scones in the be-ro book but that's all I can think of.

I'm trying very hard to be OS this year!

    Thanks
