Hardly in the spirit of freecycle is it and besides that she's lied in her listing, set out to make the most moving sob story going. Unbelievable.

Thanks everyone for being so kind!!!!! this is a copy of the email i sent to JUJU which tells the truth!! about the reason i am selling the table which i do not regret doing as i am trying to do the best by my little girl - Would any mother not do the same???????

i just wanted to say thanks for all the lovely stuff you said about me on the forum. Before you want to condem me of all these evil things i just want to let you know WHY i am selling this table. I am disabled and my husband is my full time carer, i have 2 little ones, my daughter is 3 and is also disabled and her bowel does not work without treatment. They have wanted to give her a colostomy since birth and we are waiting for her to have a biopsy done at Oxford to see how much of her bowel has no muscles and would require removing. She is in constant pain and has been since she was born and we have been taking her to a private chiropractor as the hospital just give her medicine that doesnt help the pain and we have looked for anything that will help. The treatment costs us loads and we live on my disability and so sell stuff to try to help pay for it. So i am not some big fraudster and neither is my little girl i am just a mum who is trying to do anything possible to help my little girl. I know you probably will choose not to beleive me and that is your perogative but this is the truth and i am sorry this has upset you so much and i appologise for this and hope you will find it in you heart to forgive me.

That's just ridiculous, Juju. You have every right to assume that the principles of Freecycle are held true.

I've only found out about Freecycle in the past month or so (courtesy of this website - so thanks, everyone!) and have used it a reasonable amount since then. I've managed to rescue 60 albums from someone who had been let down by two other potential collectors (I collect vinyl so they've been more than valued by me as they bring the collect up to about 900 LPs - I know, I should get with the times), I've got a kid's guitar to give to my godson to learn on (same age as I learned - so hopefully he's going to be a guitar player like me), and a lawnmower (which is now nestling in the shed at my Mum's house - she's not got one and was cutting with old shears).

So, all the items I've obtained, have really been put to good use and I know that each of them will be valued by the recipient for years to come. In each case, someone else had been successful in getting 'their pick' of the items but never bothered to turn up. In the case of the albums, 2 people had let the offerer down before they came to me, the lawnmower, another 2 people said they would collect and then didn't bother...............................I think that is the height of bad manners to have people sitting in the house while they could easily be doing something else. For those things I have collected, I've sent a good old fashioned thank you note through the post - an email seems a bit too impersonal when you're genuinely grateful for someone doing something as generous as that.

It's also been a benefit to me in terms of clearing my own loft out as I have a collection of things up there that may be of use to someone - a pet carrier, some tiles, a shower screen, a leather laptop bag, some videos......................and they've all been collected by people who turned up when they said they would. In that respect, I've been really lucky.

If I thought, however, that someone was just going to punt things on Ebay, I'd be well hacked off. I had a similar argument with someone in Dublin over concert tickets. He asked me if I had a spare ticket as he really wanted to see the show that night. I had a spare that was just going to go to waste, so gave it to him and told him to have a good night at the gig. Then saw him around the corner trying to flog it to passers by! I grabbed it back off him and gave him a piece of Scottish temper!!! There was me thinking I was doing something nice for someone who looked a bit down on his luck but desperate to see a show, but no, it was an easy way for him to make a few bob for himself. That sure stopped me trying to be nice to people.

if its really annoying you l would go back on freecycle and put a taken add on (you have probaly already done that..) but do it again and say taken table and chairs by there name and being sold on ebay.....if your lucky the mods will not check the add and when they realise what it says and take it off it will also go to everybody who only gets digest mail (think thats what its called) will still be able to read it

believe what you want to beleive but do you really think i would come on here trying to defend my self if i was going to lie!!! JUJU is quite welcome to meet my little girl and i am happy to take the letters to her to see from the hospital and the chiropractor that my little girl sees or i can email copies to her as i am not putting my little girls hospital details on here which are on the letters.

You'd have been far better served 'don'tjudgeabookbyitscover' by being upfront in the beginning, stating that your aim was to get whatever you could in order to sell on in order to raise funds etc etc.

However because you lied you have no credibility in my eyes. You've spoilt it for yourself. Shameful.

I think you're very brave to come on and try and defend lying about something such as a 'family member passing away'. Somethings are just absolutely gutteral to lie about, and the death of a family member on an auction site is one of those things.

We all have to make money to get by, but manipulating people's kind hearts and good intentions for a quick buck really is the lowest of the low. I'm sure everyone appreciates why you need the money, but adding the Passed on to me recently after a family member passed away' comment doesn't endear or present anyone in a good light now, does it?

Yes ok but that is why i have now contacted the person who gave the table to me and said sorry and told her the truth about the matter and asked for her forgiveness in me doing this. Does everyone believe its easy for me to be in the position i am in and not be able to help my daughter????? I had no option but to try to get more money if i want my daughter to be able to continue her treatment, the bottom line is the hospital are not being helpful and it gets to the point where our little girl cannot use her bowels for so long it puts posion in her blood stream and she gets really il and it could kill her and this treatment really helps her. We have no way of borrowing the money or getting it from anyone as no one we know can help, we lost everything 3 years ago due to illness and my husband having an injury and have had a very hard few years so before anyone condems me completely i am ashamed to all these comments but my little girl is the most important thing to me and i am just trying to help her - is that so wrong!!!

i have things to list on ebay due to a family member being killed just before Christmas - this story was in daily mirror 23rd DEc 2007 and in Swindon advertiser deaths January 4th 2008 and i was given things by his daughter - my cousin to sell to help pay for my little girls treatment and i made up a template and put this on first before i have had a chance to list the other things which again was wrong but i just added the details to the template and saved the template for the other things when i get a chance to give them a clean ready to take the photos so it was a bad oversight on my part i agree but it wasnt a total lie
