UKPC sent County Court Business Centre letter - what do I do?

So I had a PCN for parking in a disabled bay. I am a blue badge holder and badge was on the dash. I haven't got photographic evidence as didn't think to take it before I started to drive off, I do however have a photo of the parking bay I was in (with no signage).  I ignored the first letter, and emailed after that to the debt collection agency who UKPC told me held the debt (screenshot attached).  I have included all correspondence to date, I haven't received a reply from them until today when I get this county court business centre letter stating the debt is now £293!! (also attached).
What do I do about this? I was within my rights to park there and this has caused me so much stress and distress. I have been in and out of hospital for major surgery whilst this has been going on. I've had 3 massive operations in that time and don't need them hounding me and threatening me like this. Surely it's unlawful?
If anyone can help I'd be really appreciative.

I bet none of the UKPC signage states that the displayed blue badge must also show the expiry date!

You've shown us the Court Claim form with an Issue Date of 12 Oct 2022. You need to acknowledge service, but don't do that until 18 October so you then have the full 28 days to get your Defence together and submitted. Forum regular @KeithP will be along shortly to confirm the deadline date for Defence submission along with some key initial actions to get things underway.

But, you've left showing your MCOL password, so the Claim Form needs to be edited out of the forum.  In addition your real name is showing in the texts you've been sending back and forth to DRP and UKPC. Because you're new, you can't do it, so I've reported it to the MSE admin staff to edit your first post.

I also thought I'd draw your attention to this fairly recent thread. You must keep going through all the necessary court procedure phases, but the hope is that your case will follow the same pattern as all those detailed in the thread.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    • Claim issued on the 12 October 2022.
    • Need to to file an Acknowledgment of Service by 26 October 2026 (Do not file an Acknowledgment of Service before 18th October).
    • Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 11th November 2022 to file your Defence.
To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the
second post in the NEWBIES thread.

Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it
    to the last minute.

To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the
NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service
    instructions.

Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of
Service has been filed. the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.

Ed - I think your dates are confused. You've given two different Defence submission date deadlines, both can't be right; neither is by my calcs

I always leave these to @KeithP as there can be nuances where the deadline falls on weekends or Bank Holidays.  Keith has it off to a T.

@nickkinix, with a Claim Issue Date of 12th October, you have until Monday 31st October to file an Acknowledgment of Service but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.

Apologies my error typing it out.
    corrected it now.
    Thank you.
  • Apologies for the photos, I've now deleted them. I didn't realise it was showing that info and it took me a while to figure out how to remove them again!!
So have I got this right, first step is file an acknowledgement of service on the moneyclaim.gov.uk website yes?
I have my defense, the badge was on the dash, I wasn't in the wrong. As in my picture, there's no signage in the vicinity of the disabled bays. They surely don't have a leg to stand on so I'm surprised even after I sent them a picture of my blue badge, that they are trying to pursue this!
