If whatever choice you made is a really serious issue for you, you could chance it by requesting closure of your existing account, and then hope it is still available to apply for, and that you make the right choice when re-applying.
I have chosen to read the key facts document9 -
I also need to send in my passport. A bit of a pain, I would prefer they just don't open an account.
I am going to my local branch as I hear you can maybe submit id documents there rather than post it all.0 -

Morning all, Thanks for heads up on this account.
I've just successfully set up account on my phone in less than 5 minutes.
(By coincidence Santander has just paid dad and I our £175 bank switch bonuses (I thought we'd only get 160 but they've paid the newer offer amount....... im just planning next switch....possibly RBS by 20 October)

I signed up on the day the 2.75% rate came out. I had a dormant savings account with £1 with them. I'm still waiting for the new savings account to be set up. Considering, the I had still all my sign in details - I wonder why it's taking so long.0

It took 12 seconds from the application email to the confirmation email, according to the email header timestamps.0

Luckily, I have a current account with them already and was able to open mine quickly and within minutes the first 10k was in there - shame we can't move more than that each day0
