Exciting times.  I am on the UAM survey and have - wait for it - received the same leaflets twice!!  In my many years of being on the panel this has never happened.

I think some people have been taken in by Spectos understating the seriousness of this breach
On the flip side, most of that data will already be out there anyway as a result of previous data breaches (unless Spectos was the only company who you’ve ever given this data to, which seems unlikely).

It doesn’t excuse the fact it has happened or mean that companies shouldn’t be more careful with our data, but we should all have been on our guard against fraud attempts using our data before this breach anyway.
I agree with you both.  The last time I was subject to a major data breach from a big company they at least had the courtesy to provide a free Experian subscription for a year.  I'm quite surprised Spectos haven't offered something like this.

Almost every piece of franked test mail that I have received lately has had an invalid barcode and unacceptable postage amount - are others finding the same?  Wondering whether it is a deliberate ploy on behalf of Spectos/Royal Mail to test the system or whether it's just that whoever is sending them has got an incorrect set up ...

I keep getting ones with £1.67 postage which isn't listed on their options so have to put it under Other and tell them the amount.

I've had a few.  Tried scanning the 2D code with no luck so I log it as other and keep the bit of envelope in case of queries.

Yes, I have, but assumed that Spectos had not updated the data when the prices went up.
That would be my guess too - the app doesn't list all the possibilities.
I need to think of something new here...

I had a bundle to post on Saturday, all the local postboxes bar one are 7am collection so walked to the one near the shops. RM website says 12:30 but label on the box says 12 noon. Got there at 10:45 just in time to see a red van pull away. No day plate in the space. I also sent back a transponder envelope and haven't got my ten points yet. Luckily I verified my location for the bundle.

The collection times shown are supposed to be the last collection time - it is possible that there are other collections during the day ...

I doubt the box gets that much post. There are about six post boxes nearby which have a 9am weekday and 7am Saturday collection so logically I would suggest the same van empties all of them, I'd guess they did that then emptied the 12 noon one. I got the points for the transponder return today. It's still a little surprising that the time on the royal mail website doesn't match the time on the box. That postbox never has the day plate displayed (perhaps it's broken) but this week I've seen a couple saying Monday yesterday and one saying Tuesday today suggesting we have some very confused postal workers.

It is my understanding that the really early collections are done by the local postman on his deliveries. The time means nothing. I refuse to get up early on a Saturday and will do these, in future, the night before as the app now allows this.

The app allows it....but you need to justify yourself for not posting on the right day.

I would guess that the LAT for most postboxes is about an hour before the postman usually delivers, just to give them leeway. The 'late' collections are staggered to allow a van to follow a particular route, presumably straight to the mail centre/sorting office rather than the delivery office
