On the flip side, most of that data will already be out there anyway as a result of previous data breaches (unless Spectos was the only company who you’ve ever given this data to, which seems unlikely).HonestJohn said:I think some people have been taken in by Spectos understating the seriousness of this breach
It doesn’t excuse the fact it has happened or mean that companies shouldn’t be more careful with our data, but we should all have been on our guard against fraud attempts using our data before this breach anyway.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j2 -
What has Malwarebytes got to do with someone potentially using your number or data somewhere for something?skyeblue said:
Why should we get any compensation? We are unaffected, the site was down for 1 week, but business carries on as usual. If anyone thinks they are at risk, the best thing to do is install efficient systems such as Malwarebytes.beanielou said:
More likely to be chucked off the panel as data has leaked.HonestJohn said:
I think we deserve some compensation too. Be lucky to get a set of Christmas stamps though.MABLE said:
This has happened to me before and it was not until about 6 months later the affects started to show. Well I hope Spectos are heavily find further carelessness.HonestJohn said:I would think that it is a bit early to say that no misuse of your data has happened.

Maybe Spectos should have used it?adamp87 said:

Some people are very naive. They get a few stamps and a voucher once in a while but are utterly oblivious and don't care about where their data ends up. The number of cold calls i've received since that breach, along with the increase in spam emails can't be a coincidence.HonestJohn said:I think some people have been taken in by Spectos understating the seriousness of this breach3 -
Has anyone posted the day before because the last posting time is ridiculously early? Are we allowed to do that?0

Yes. A previous poster did and said the app allows for it now.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0

If you get what seems to be junk mail from the People's Postcode Lottery, make sure to open it because it could be for Mailagents. Luckily I could feel it had the transponder inside, but if they ran out of transponders again I would probably have put it straight into the recycling without opening it.

I thought you were going to say you'd won a fortune! Most of the stuff I get from postcode lottery is unaddressed though, whereas this must have been addressed to you as the panellist?catsitter said:If you get what seems to be junk mail from the People's Postcode Lottery, make sure to open it because it could be for Mailagents. Yes, it was addressed to me but I thought they could have got my name from the electoral register.
