Can anyone recommend the cheapest company for something large (1 metre tall) weighing in the region of 50-60 kilos?

Also, with these pick-up drop-off companies, will they carry the item out of your house for you? This is a rather large item so I think they'll need more than 1 person! I'm worried than 1-man-with-a-van will show up and won't be able to carry it out alone.

How far is it going? Your best bet might be a local man with a van (and driver's mate)/small removals company.

Other than that you'd have to stick it in a pallet and one of the big boys to pick it up, they'd use a pallet truck and tail lift.

30kg is the most any employee is allowed to lift by hand

Stick it on a pallet and some carriers can take up to 1000kg. You need to look for pallet not parcel delivery. The item would have to be on a pallet on a flat surface ready to be wheeled away though.

Or as I say depending on the distance you could get a local man with a van

DSE are back, but they now only offer 1 parcel delivery service, but a good one at that!
They offer 24hr service for £6.00 through their new website, http://www.directparceldelivery.com/

I notice that their cut off time is now 10:00 AM for same day collections. I've just missed the deadline.

Can anyone tell me if I can order Balloon and Gift today (Friday) to do a collection on Monday ?

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience sending large parcels via these courier companies to an European country and the person who collects it having to pay any extra (taxes, import duties, etc) to collect the package? I mean personal stuff not internet sales.
    TIA

Hi, Can anyone suggest a company that will COLLECT on Saturday - delivery time/day isn't important, for a parcel that will fit within normal restrictions.
This is due to a seller who agreed I could arrange a courier to lower the cost but (found out afterwards) is only in all day on Saturday! They're going to demand I pay full whack parcel delivery prices otherwise. They think I'm messing them around but they're the ones that agreed on courier!

Saturday collection costs a premium over all other services.

How much did your seller quote you for postage?
