How did you apply online for the Barclays current account? For sole accounts there is only the option of apply in app or phone up/branch visit. For joint accounts there is an option for apply online.RG2015 said:
Yes, I did the application online.dingling68 said:
I have set up the app and got as far as being asked for a photo of my ID. Did you apply online? Didn’t think of that …RG2015 said:
I managed to open a Barclays account last week without any photo ID.dingling68 said:I too haven’t switched to Barclays previously, I think it is the only one left to do, but the savings account is definitely too good to pass up. Unfortunately I am not near any of my photo ID so hoping it is still available on Tuesday!
Afterwards I did try to register for the app but needed the cvv from my debit card which has not as yet arrived. I was offered a video option but decided to wait for the debit card.
At least I have been able to deposit money into the Rainy Day Saver so am already earning 5%
I am curious as I have an account setup but my wife has tried to apply in the app for a sole account, but the application failed with no reason given and the instruction to make a appointment to visit a branch. I would try for the joint account but if my name is on it too then we won't be able to have a rainy day saver as well as I already have one linked to my sole account.
Edit, I missed it the first and second time of looking:
If you’d prefer, you can stay in your browser and apply using our online form.
Silly me

True - but we all know that the renewed interest in the Barclays Reward current account has been triggered by their 5% Rain Day Saver, which has the Rewards current account as a pre-req. Lighten upAlbermarle said:This is the Savings and Investments forum.

Just realised I don't need to physically have the debit card, as I can obtain the debit card's details in the app. So seems a bit of a pointless security feature!surreysaver said:I switched away from my Barlcays current account earlier this year when they mucked about with the Blue Rewards, but opened a new current account last week no problem (I still have the app on my phone so no need to do anything to set that up - my new account was visible straight away). Just need to wait for the debit card to turn up so I can transfer money out of it.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
OK I shall look forward to a lot more detail about the current account operates/problems with the app etc . Sounds like funDaliah said:

I tried that feature online but it came up with an error. Perhaps the debit card needs authentication before I can see my PIN online.surreysaver said:

It doesn't require authentication. I had to wait 4 days until I had a message in the app saying that all security checks had been done and all features were available. Before that I could not view the card detail or set up any payees.RG2015 said:

When did the 4 day period start? As it stands I cannot register for the app without my cvv PIN number.
Edit: I meant PIN not cvv above.0 -
I applied for the account via the app therefore was set up on the app from the start. At that time I was unable to set up new payees, view the card details or switch on Blue Rewards. A message in the app said something along the lines of you will not have full access until our security checks have been completed usually takes 4 days.RG2015 said:

After 4 working days I did have full access and was able to see all the card details. The physical card was delivered a day or two after that.
I was unable to register for online access until I had the card details.1
