NST OCTOBER 2022: Autumn Leaves and Sloe Berries

Leicester council rarely grit the roads at all. I have seen the gritting lorry twice in 6 years, the roads are terrifying if it snows. We have grit bins, but it tends to be on the roads that look like they are (or were) council authority houses.or near industrial estates, and all at the top of a slope, so getting up there on ice, and then back down again with a heavy bucket, is always like a documentary on the secret life of penguins.... It is those idiots who throw warm water on their car windscreens to thaw them, and then leave perfectly smooth thin ice patches all over the road and pavement that do my head in. That is wilful and deliberate endangerment, not someone trying to clear the path for others.

Thank you all for the welcomes, thank you @f0xh0les for my number. I still feel like I am 21 so that is a good match
I am grateful for my dc, for the tip guys and gals managing to take about 80% of the stuff I had to the reuse bit of the tip. I am also grateful for my light bulb moment with my debt. I have been putting off totting up the numbers and had sleepless nights but finally did it yesterday and although it is higher than I thought/hoped for, I feel better for knowing and am establishing a plan to get it all paid back. I am going to "be more squirrel" with it.
First step is to declutter the house and see what else I can sell to put towards debt reduction.2024 decluttering Campaign

Hazel, please keep your nsds if you're only paying for hospital parking. It is unavoidable and a medical need, so doesn't ruin an otherwise nsd.

Hazel, apple_muncher is right. In the earlier entries, it pointed out that medical spends don't count as regular spends. So you don't need to count those spends against your NSDs. Hope everything goes well for your family members.9

Petrol does not count either, because we do not want Turtles stuck at the side of the road because they were trying to keep their NSD.Hospital parking, or prescriptions or medicine are equally exempt, as are regular spends which you have earmarked the money for earlier - like cubs subs, or the window cleaner. However if you pick up a chocolate bar/crisps/sausage roll while filling up with petrol, then NSD lost. Yellow Sticker items are also exempt as we encourage all MSE endeavours - but nothing full price at the same time.Today has been an odd sort of day, most of the morning in limbo waiting for El Postman, who then delivered nothing but disappointment, boo! Some good news emails in the afternoon, finally I will be shot of the solicitors as soon as they do this one last thing. Worth celebrating!!My kids are horrid - they are getting into the holiday mood, they are ready for a week off, but still 2 days to go. Then at nearly half four, got a call to come for an interview tomorrow morning... nothing ventured nothing gained. Zero hours contract of course, will at least go and see when they are anticipating needing staff, but I applied nearly 4 weeks ago and this is the first contact I have had.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Tonight I'm guilty of not going on club run, but equally for the view to a quiet night, early dinner and now just me reading on my bed with the dog and a cup of tea. Bliss really. And grateful for the heat on, but it not having kicked in.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Read - Nothing today.
Plan for December - Was going to buy some pressies today but didn’t want to lose an NSD so left in my basket for tomorrow.
NSD - 7/15
MSE - Thinking about a heated airer to dry clothes and to heat the room I work in.
Gratitude - Grateful for DS good group of friends, DS footy training not being on tonight and a footy match on tv tonight.

We have had our heat on today as well - because DH is still working from home and feels the cold if he is just sitting typing. There is nothing wrong with putting your heat on if you are cold! In fact, please do put your heat on if you are cold. Use candles and hot water bottles and fluffy blankets as well, but use your heating if you need it.I have not put mine on the timer yet (to come on at the same time every day), but we press the +1 hour heating button on the boiler controls if we need it. We are nearly half way through October after all!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Good luck tomorrow, f0xh0les!
Best wishes to all the (other) poorly turtles xx
Feeling a little better today - but still took the day off as I am too rough to work (got showered and dressed mid afternoon...) My nose is very red and sore - despite using balm tissues and lots of epaderm 🤧
Rainy day here - used heated airers for laundry (and, yes, they do geat the room - but it's not one that anyone was in 😁) - 2nd load now on them but will turn them off overnight.
Food save tonight - used 2.5 bags of YS Jersey royals from early July (that had been forgotten about...) and some hg potatoes from my mum (from early Aug) that were all looking a bit ropey in a corned beef hashAnd there's leftovers for some easy lunches too 🙌
