Very productive day today, started with a workout and then cleared some little annoying jobs at home before starting work. Cleared my entire to do list for the day both at work and personally. Busy but I don't mind when I can see outcomes!
Shopping being delivered this evening, meal planning has been done for the next week until the next food shop comes.
Need to buy my mum some flowers for an operation she's having next week. She thought it was local anaesthetic but found out today it's general, she's in good health but always a bit nerve-wracking. Will sort that out tomorrow.
Have an early start and a long day ahead tomorrow so going to relax for the rest of the evening.11 -
Not sure when I posted last. Was in London for a family wedding Sat- Sun.
Am full of a cold - DH came down with it first. I developed a sniff yesterday so was expecting to go into work today and then possibly be off tomorrow. At 2am I decided I'd go in today for a couple of hours amd then come home. At 5am I decided I was staying home and not working at all. I have a fit/ sick note with regards to my radiotherapy that takes me to the end of the month, so work have had bonus time from me in effect anyway, as I've been working every day. I'm not expecting to be doing any work tomorrow - and we'll see about Thirs (May do some wfh if I feel up to it)
No spends today but spent yesterday in Tesc0 and then ordering some presents and a cake - I'm barely we'll enough to make a cup of tea, let alone anything more complicated! 😄🤣
Lots of walking outside on Sat and Sun in London.
No heating on here yet - but blankets, wheatbags and tealights are making lots of appearances! 😁😁I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £209 -
Evening Turtles. Another lovely day here today, walked to meet OH from the train and found lots of piles of leaves to scrunch through, very satisfying!
New cat hates the other 3 cats but loves all humans, early days though. The other 3 are looking a little hurt, so she is still shut in DD’s bedroom. Apparently DD just got hissed at when she wouldn’t share her takeaway.
DS2 has got another job interview tomorrow so hopefully he may soon be a fully contributing member of the household. I made him go and claim Universal Credit last month so he has been paying something but he will be entitled to the second half of the cost of living payment in November which I have told him he will have to hand over to me. To be fair, he didn’t make a fuss about it.
Today I am grateful for Dad giving me 2 enormous cooking apples (I suspect he may be expecting them back in another form!) another lovely day and the cats not killing each other8 -
Toni'sfriend said:Changed the bedding and all the washing done and dried now. Will do the little bit of ironing that needs done later. Got everything on my list that I wanted to do yesterday done. Loads still needing done but I'm prioritising day by day so I'll make today's must do list later.
The lentil soup was lovely despite Himself turning off the slow cooker half way through. Luckily I noticed before too much damage was done. He's taking my efforts to save electricity to heart. I found him trying to read in almost darkness yesterday afternoon. He can't even see to read when the lights are on! I've had to have a word and tell him we won't be bankrupt if he switches the lights on.
So, preparations for December and the winter. We looked out all our torches and checked they are working (in case of power cuts) and ordered a supply of batteries and candles. Tested the heating and it's fine. Just occurred to me that I should check the medicine cabinet so I'll put that on today's list. I suppose we should try and get some salt or grit for the paths around the block as they always freeze and the council never grit them. They are positively dangerous. I think I'll speak to my very practical young neighbour and suggest we organise a bulk buy that we can all contribute towards. He has to contacts to get it. Ordered some books for Himself as gifts.
So, off today to order the replacement oven and freezer. I've had a look on the store's website and have an idea of what I'm looking for.
Better get on with it.I would check with your local council before putting down salt or grit. Our council always had big grit bins and residents could use the grit in icy weather. That changed years ago and the bins disappeared everyone had letters through the door not to put down salt or grit as if someone had an accident the householder would be responsible for any accident or injury. The bins never came back.I'm in NW England so things may be different where you are. A friend of mine had slipped on council laid grit in town a couple of years earlier and broke her pelvis. She was advised to sue the council as she was off her feet for a couple of years in a lot of pain. She had a settlement of thousands of pounds . I have no idea if that led to the council banning grit and salt. She had slipped on the council grit on the high strreet and had plenty of witnesses.pollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Sorry you're still feeling rough GMN. I'm not sure if your brother needs to sign something concerning your mothers estate which is why you need to visit him.I'm wondering if there is a a way that can be done by proxy. It's a long time since my 1st husband died but most of his estate was dealt with by my solicitor and his bank. The NHS are facing a perfect storm now flu and the Omicron figures rising again time to hunker down and stay safe.Have you ever asked DS3 or Beloved to empty the dishwasher and put things away and sort out the clean washing ? Your resting still involves doing tasks when you should be resting. You wont recover while you're still doing things.Take carepollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Thanks @beanielou, you are all so positive on here and it is just what is needed with this crazy world at the minute!
Today I started clearing the junk and mess from the loft, we had a new roof (old one wouldn't have lasted another winter...was looking dicey!) So there is a tonne of dirt and dust all over.
Got a tip run to do later in the week with anything else I can find (they recycle everything they can there)

Filled by the council.Ah but you're in Scotland Beanie the land of commonsense. I watching the party conference such a contrast to what's going on here. I usually watch PMQs as they tear each other apart in the house getting nowhere. Ian Blackford is brilliant . I used to like Dennis Skinner sadly he's no longer an MP but he was brilliant still shouting as the Speaker ordered him to leave the chamber.Ian was ordered out recently but most of the time he manages to get important things said which is what MPs are meant to do.I often wish I had moved to Scotland when I had the chance.I know things aren't perfect but I always felt more at home there with the big skies , stars and moons it was like free therapy to recharge my batteries.I hope you managed to get your coat mended.I did wonder if an iron on patch inside the pocket would fix the tear but reading iit was from Vinted and originally cost far more than you paid it wouldn;t be worth risking it with no knowledge of the fabric lining an iron could have melted it.ihope it keeps you nice and warm this winter. I put the milk out earlier and it's very frosty. tonight it's usually november when we start getting frosts so not encouraging.have you heard back from PIP yet? They still seem to have a big backlog. They delayed dds assessment for 2 years during the pandemic but wrote ti inform us. They assessed her on paper a few months ago but kept paying throughout. Finally a letter both still enhanced much less stressful than a face to face.At the moment they're saying it will be a few years before they assess her again. Our dr back then advised claiming DLA when she was a little child. Years later she was transferred to PIP. She'll be 40 next year . I know they have to check claims but after nearly 35 years she's hardly likely to wake up one morning free from pain and full of energy.Take care beanie and try using the walker whenever you can.pollyx

polly~~Did not think of a patch. Will ponder. Thanks
Nothing from PIP as yet.
I find it frustrating that you have a life long condition you still have to jump through hoops & provide yet another shed load of medical evidence.
Bitter, mio?
