Statement from UKIFDA:
UKIFDA, the trade body for the liquid fuel distribution industry, has met with the government to discuss the most efficient way of getting the £100 fixed payment announced on 19th September to heating oil customers.
Given the highly competitive nature of the heating oil market, customers have the ability to purchase from a number of different distributors and outlets. Consequently, they are likely to hold multiple accounts, which makes the fixed payment distribution challenging to deliver without duplication.
Inevitably this will take some time, so we strongly recommend that customers do not wait if they need heating oil. We are working closely with the government to find a solution and ensure that heating oil households receive their £100 as soon as possible.
As we head into winter, many oil heating customers will know that the best and most economical approach is to talk to their local distributors on a regular basis and not leave purchases to the last minute.

It's just not good enough for the government (or the trade) to say 'it's awfully complex so we suggest you carry on buying heating oil'. I can wait a couple of months to buy, but certainly was waiting for 1st October as a trigger date. None of us want to make a purchase and then find we are ineligible for the 'discretionary' government support. To make a political point - it's obvious that the Truss administration has made announcements with no detail to back them up. And a couple of weeks later there is still no clarity.in_my_bumble_opinion said:Statement from UKIFDA:UKIFDA, the trade body for the liquid fuel distribution industry, has met with the government to discuss the most efficient way of getting the £100 fixed payment announced on 19th September to heating oil customers.

Thing is, in my local area a 750l order is now ranging from £50-100 more than it was when it was first announced in the commons. Only 3 things will bring the price down: OPEC nations increasing production, lack of demand or £ up against $. Thinking about demand, the colder weather is closing in, could be lots of oil consumers waiting for detail of £100 payment to be announced then all order st same time.wwally said:

I dunno, you know what's best for you but I reckon they're right to suggest don't wait for it if you can.1 -
Agree. Not filling up now will increase prices later in winter due to additional demand.
We need oil in tanks now so that more can be refined.
If I was legally allowed to empty 200l out of my fairly full tank so I could purchase the minimum 500l delivery then I would.
Obv I'd keep the 200l and pour it in later

Otherwise, how do you cope with oil, lpg delivered in tankers, bottled lpg, logs, various other forms of solid fuel and anything else I haven't thought of. All of these things are going up too.1
