Morrisons Prices - Shocking

I tried Tesco the other day, I hadn't been for a couple of months. I only going for things that I cannot get in Lidl but it seemed worse since I was last there, in fact it was service with a scowl.
I've decided to opt for Lidl for day to day, we don't eat a lot of ultra processed, ready meal type foods or meat, and use M&S for the things I cannot get/do not like from Lidl.
At the moment it's only loose tea and a broad range of pasta that I cannot get in Lidl, although at least I can make pasta.0 -
I shop online with morrisons (delivery pass)and also have an amazon prime pass.I have gone from shopping online at morrisons every 7 days.Because i work a 4 on 4 off system i split my shopping between amazon fresh and morrisons. ill open 2 tabs on my computer one for morrisons and one for amazon fresh, who ever has it cheaper it will be bought from them.Amazon fresh sells a lot of morrisons branded stuff.£40 minimum delivery on both but that works out o.k for me.Instead of shopping on each Friday like i used too i will now shop every 4 days (amazon fresh on my first shift mostly for fresh meat/salad for sandwiches and morrisons on my first rest day).Plus sometimes the same product is cheaper on the main amazon website than amazon fresh. This system seems to be working out cheaper for me, my savings seem to be covering the cost of my prime subscription and a bit more.0

It isn't so much Morrison's prices that are starting to make me wish I had not taken out a year's delivery pass with them, it's their almost complete inability to control stock levels. My deliveries come from a large central warehouse in SE London (even though I live many miles away from it) but despite its size, Morrison's is unable to keep even perfectly ordinary items in stock. Recently, lard (which every other supermarket chain seems to have in abundance) vanished not just for a day or so but for many weeks and that's just one everyday product that springs to mind, there have bene plenty of others.
Morrison's new owners need to look hard and fast at what they have bought because, to this customer at least, it appears to be in trouble.0 -
A couple of examples:
1 kg rice- looks like the cheapest in Morrisons is 95 pence -(currently on offer-) easy cook-
bog standard white rice 45 pence (also 1 kg) in Aldi, Tesco, Sainsburys
Rolled oats: Tesco- 1 kg- 70 pence
Morrisons 1 kg (on offer) now £1.29 normally £1.49. Only double the priceBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

True the latter two also have 'Aldi price match' budget pseudo-brand offerings at 45p, but these aren't direct product comparisons

I was looking at the cheapest possible simply because I need to feed my dog rice.
Morrisons is at the bottom of the road whilst Aldi requires a drive.
However M doesn't actually have bog standard and when they did early last month it was around 30 pence more per packet.
and the rolled oats? usually double the price.
it might be the closest supermarket but I give it a miss.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

But I was just pointing out that your example (at least the rice one) is not a direct product comparison so I don;t think would pass any advertising standards style shopping basket comparison test. Our nearest Morrison's is nearly 30 miles away so a discussion of their prices is all rather moot for me anyway...2 -
Morrisons is my local, and my main irritation is with their discounting "yellow sticker" pricing. I've noticed they now tend to keep the discounts very low throughout the day, until around 6pm. By which time, hoardes of gannets swarm around the fridges, selfishly raiding stuff (and telling their spawn to check the other shelves; raising them to be greedy hoarders I guess).
Surely, they could discount early on in the day, and it would sell over the course of the day. The other aspect is that many older customers probably don't want to venture out that late, so miss out on the cheaper finds.1 -

Safeway prices were shocking and Wm Morrison has continued this tradition. I can honestly say if it closed, I would not miss this supermarket. If the company is the 2nd largest food manufacurer in the UK, why is it so expensive? Economy of scales etc etc!0
