I went to Tesco yesterday and came out with not a lot for £88; I'm going to be a lot more careful next shop.

Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!3 -
I went to Morrisons last night. I had a broken foot so haven’t been able to go for the past 3 weeks and I was astounded at some of the price rises.
A bottle of own brand fizzy orange crush has increased to 99 pence per bottle. This same item used to be 45 pence.I mentioned the increases to the cashier who informed me that staff receive a 15% discount and that she still finds it cheaper to shop at Sainsbury's.I really think the supermarkets are seizing the opportunity to increase their prices on the back of the cost of living crisis.2 -

I still don't think that the latter line in italics is true though. They play a much longer game, and although we cannot expect them not to make a margin, I don't think they are profiteering. (Possibly with the exception of M&S, I'd be interested to see their food prices this Christmas when people like to blow out).No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Not very much!1 -
I am sceptical. If I were looking for the lowest prices I would go to Aldi or Lidl. For quality and variety, Waitrose, but Sainsbury's cheaper than Morrisons? I very much doubt it. If she had said Asda or Tesco, I'd have believed it, but not Sainsbury's, whose prices I was looking at online a few minutes ago. At least for my shopping basket, as a regular Morrisons shopper, I know would spend more if I switched to Sainsbury's.me881 said:I went to Morrisons last night. As for taking advantage of the situation, I suspect that there is some of this going on (in milk products in particular) but whether it's the supermarkets or the manufacturers to blame is impossible to say without inside knowledge.0 -
I shop at Lidl and they always have most, if not all, of what I need.Someone please tell me what money is0

I went to Tesco on the way back from work last night as my fridge was empty.prowla said:RobM99 said:

I spent just under £60 with apparent "savings" of £66. About £40 of that was wine and a further £8 on toiletries, and I ended up with loaded bags for the £10+ I did spend on food, which included a big block of cheese price-matched to Aldi and numerous YS bargains from the F&V aisle. Granted, not as much as I would have got for the same money last year but I shopped at the right time and I have plenty of healthy food in now. There is no way I would have got so much at Aldi or Lidl simply because they do not make price reductions to the same extent.
