Morrisons Prices - Shocking

Got to be right up there with the Co-op for high prices and poor value for money.
Used to get a lot of shopping there but came out empty handed today.
Half empty shelves and appalling prices.

Welcome to the private equity ownership model! ☹️2

Aren't they all basically like this now?
I find the quality, price and availability of goods in Tesco to be shocking.
Waitrose are still best of the lot but obviously at huge expense!
Lidl & Aldi seem to offer the best overall shopping experience for me these days.
The new stores are leagues ahead of the 'traditional' players, it's no wonder they're picking up so much market share.5 -
used to be our "go to" up to about 2 years ago, certainly for the "nicer" and "treat" stuff. never go there now
having said that, just got a "20% off to use in store" email, has anyone ever had something like that? does it actually work on alcohol and/or gift vouchers? i know T&C's say no but any real world experiences?0 -

So much to read, so little time.0 -
I've recently found that the supermarket price hikes (ticket prices & shrinkflation stealth rises) have made them uncompetitive and I do a lot of shopping elsewhere and get better products.

Morrisons irritates me as they never have anything in stock.... even if it is twice the price!1

martinjohn said:Morrisons irritates me as they never have anything in stock.... even if it is twice the price!Mostly because they had deliveries available during lockdown, I switched to Morrisons some time ago and so can bear witness to how much they have declined in the past year to eighteen months. Their 'Savers' scheme has more or less vanished and their stock control is laughably bad (and this is for deliveries coming from their SE London 'super hub', which is unforgiveable).
Unfortunately, I have renewed my prepayment for a year's deliveries but I'm seriously considering calling them to argue for a refund. I also use Aldi for 'live'; shopping and agree that on almost every count, Aldi has the rest beaten hands down.0 -
My sister said the same, but ironically for me, its maybe 10% more expensive than ASDA and no more but own brand is better quality.
The reason I use Morrisons now is having my food delivered loose in crates is too risky for my health problems and its antiquated not using some kind of bag.
Initially I had pretty much no stock issues with Morrisons but some issues have started becoming apparent.
Paracetamol not in stock for 27 weeks in a row, I tried to get a complaint logged as thats clear unacceptable stock management, but it was a "if its out of stock there is no complaints procedure its tough luck", low fat burgers occasionally stock but now always substituted.
The good things are the dates are always very good on chilled food, bagged deliveries, own brand is good quality, refund for returned bags making deliveries cheaper than ASDA and co, and not all these bulk buy discounts that ASDA etc. have meaning singletons pay a premium.
So I think if you used to bulk buy discounts and then go to Morrisons yes you are in for a shock.
As an example, a small carton of milk is more expensive at Asda than the COOP, but a bigger carton is cheaper at Asda vs COOP. The supermarkets tend to uprate prices for smaller items and low quantity buys.
A trick I used to deal with substitutes is to select the option "I dont want a substitute" this seems to givbe you priority on stock, as think about it logically if they have 150 orders for nescafe, only 60 in stock, and 40 said they wont accept a sub, you going to make sure the 40 get a jar so you still making money of them, then lucky 20 from the rest and rest get a sub. However Morrisons dont let you pick that option.1 -
Aldi.prices have rocketed in recent months. I no longer consider them a cheap supermarket. I now shop at Sainsbury's, who price match Aldi, have cheaper reduced items (Aldi is only 30% max), hand out free plastic bags, more choice, wider aisles, toilets, and generally a much less crowded and stressful shop to than Aldi. I came out with a tonne of reduced items with some price matched stuff the other day and spent way less than Aldi. Better quality veg and meat too!
Ps. Agree about Morrisons prices, but also the Co op is becoming more.exoensive than Waitrose!2
