A thought for all the people waiting to hear about Tracker and Agile:
Possibly Octopus aren't getting straight answers from Government regarding whether these tariffs are capped or not.
Normally there would be legislation or Ofgem SLCs to refer to, but nothing like that has been published yet.

That has been my assumption as well, I know there wasn't time for the usual legislation, but in its absence, assumptions could prove very costly and clarity will be lacking...

There was time to deepen the recession, crash the pound and for Kwarteng to make his silly speech, therefore there was time for legislation if the government wished, the simply had different priorities.

In other news (for anyone thinking of jumping from Agile to standard tariff) overnight rates were sub 14p (albeit early hours of the morning).

Been a long time since a dip below 35p.

This is the problem. Agile is below the 34p Truss cap overnight and this afternoon. The Government ain't going to subsidise Agile to 34p when we can potentially get it cheaper every time the wind blows (wind generation is 43% as I type).

It also throws up an interesting point. Those people who signed up to the 55p capped Agile as some sort of closet fix, encouraged by some on here, could have saved some money today but I bet they don't even know the price has dropped.

Indeed, I wonder if any are load shifting?
If not worth doing for 40p/unit saving, then they revoke the right to complain about costs 😉.

That may or may not be the case, but it doesnt prevent them communicating.

Hopefully we get some news within a week, but I expect the timetable that has been quoted by Octopus its unlikely.

I did see it earlier and was going to post in the tracker thread, I did load shift.

However I am often up during the night, and also run my NAS 24/7 so even if was no load shifting it still saves me money.  My usage pattern is far from whats considered the consumer norm.

I'm sticking with Agile whatever the outcome. Luckily, I went on to it on 21st July, the last day of the 35p cap, before it went up to 55p. Hopefully the cap will be honoured for a year.

I have solar/batteries and can top up overnight if the price is low enough and the sun isn't going to be shining the next day. I did make use of the 14p slots from 3am this morning.

  • I haven't heard a thing from them either. I fixed my rates early September before the government measures were known so I believe I could change to a cheaper tarriff. There's just no way of finding out what the tarriff options are and how the government price cap is being calculated through to me on a fixed tarriff.... Might try to ring them tomorrow, hopefully I'll get through!
