Hello all, been an interesting day. Went to town early as a new iceland warehouse was opening today. Saved £10, two vouchers so split the shop, plus another 10%, for being over 60! Also raffle tickets are given out before opening, and OH won a ninety second trolley dash. He managed to get over £80 of shopping, better than I'd have done i think. Have also picked more raspberries and tomatoes. DW done and washing hung out. Not much else. Ho hum!
Now going to read back through the thread to see what everyone else is up to, hugs, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.9 -
Congratulations on the trolley dash MumtoMany! It sounds as though your four month old kitten is very frustrated by being kept indoors as a first guess GI. Has she got masses of toys she can chase and mangle? I make catnip toys and I've got a few spare lying around here so I could send you a couple for starters which might help her blow off a bit of steam occasionally. You can PM me your address and I'll pop a couple of the toys in the post if you like. They're made out of scraps, they're not going to win any beauty contests but they don't cost me anything, and I find that giving them a fresh toy every week or so means they are freshly stimulated every time. I let them keep the old toys as they seem to like having them in their beds. Pingpong balls are always a smash hit, and no matter how many dozen I buy I can never find any of them until I move all the furniture. I've never found a young cat that doesn't love them.I'd also suggest another litter tray - try everything, nothing's going to hurt.A proper scratching post she can climb is a must. We got some 4" x 4" posts, some longer than others, and wrapped sisal rope around them, secured firmly at the top and bottom. I then used very sturdy tree ties to secure them to bannisters so when they are doing their claws their backs can stretch properly (anything 18" high is too low for proper back stretching for cats) and the cats absolutely love climbing them, so the taller the better. One of ours is only 4', the other is 6' and they use both of them.Has she got a safe place she can go and hide high up somewhere, where she's confident she can sleep without the other cat disturbing her?Has she got a little igloo type bed she can call her own? There are available from P3t$ @ H0m3 but if you have 30 minutes, two wire coathangers and a teeshirt you can easily knock one up yourself from instructions here. Our cats loved them when they were first with us, now they don't use them at all.I'd bring her in some outdoor things to play with like leaves and things that rustle like straw or hay and fresh grass for her to see if she wants to eat it.I heartily agree with you that keeping her in until she's at least been spayed in exactly the right thing to do, and would be horrified by the thought that she might go and explore the busy road at the front of the house if you let her out while she's very young. However, indoor cats do experience frustration and the only way around that is to stimulate them by playing with them and providing extra resources that older cats may not need quite so much. Our little tortoiseshell female sometimes gets frustrated by not being an outdoor cat and we have to take extra care over her for that reason, but she could only have ever been safe in the middle of a farm, and certainly not on the streets around here.

Absolutely brilliant Mumtoomany, what a lovely thing to happen! Much deserved too xx
Mademoiselle - great to have you back. I think of you often and wondered how you were getting on xx
A slower day than yesterday, much needed. I’ve just had 10 25kg sacks of animal feed delivered though and need to get them in and away, I struggle to lift the sacks not because of the weight but they are just awkward I find. Dinner is still to do, but that’s an easy sausage and mash meal. Children are showered, the WM is on with their swimming gear and they are washing up a few bits - making a big fuss whilst doing it 🙄🤣
Round - how are you feeling now lovely? Take care all xx9 -
All done! several pairs of socks worn out and in the bin.I'm gonig to keep going to see how many I can do for the 3 months.Flower bulbs planted this afternoon

Kaz that is truly amazing, well done.
Hope you are feeling better Round and Mademoiselle I am slightly jealous of your pared down life.
Busy day at the paid stuff, have met up with 5 different people to discuss 5 different things. Lots of peopling. Cycled in, bit tired coming home. DS was in our house when I got in so I fed him some leftover curry out of the freezer.
Feeling OK about things. I didnt have to go to this conference next week but there should be some useful stuff to learn about so I am putting on the big girl pants and making myself go. Virtual hand holding welcome.
Have taken our stupid creasy duvet cover off the line and ironed it. I should run the hoover around really but that means moving off the sofa.7 -
Kaz, absolutely fantastic, well done x
Nice to have you back, Mademoiselle.
Round, how are you feeling, my lovely?
Things done, can't remember what exactly. Dinner cooked, pack up done for tomorrow 🙁, kitchen tidied.
Back to sort out this stupid knitting pattern - bad enough in itself but DD thinks that I can work wonders with self drafting a design on it too.8 -

Morning all. Just lost a long post, grrr.
I hope you're feeling better today, round x
Your steps total is brilliant, Kaz - very well done! x
Congratulations on your winnings, mumtoomany - enjoy! x
Bonjour et félicitations, Mademoiselle - glad you're enjoying getting your new permanent home in order x
Yesterday we both had our flu jabs, then I went shopping.
Be warned - I nearly had my handbag snatched off the back seat of the car at traffic lights. I reckon the two young men involved (car driver and would-be-snatcher) had clocked me in MrAl's car park. Fortunately I was driving DH's car, which has automatic central locking that kicks in a few seconds after you pull away, so the brazen lad in the hoodie who tried the rear door couldn't open it. If you have central locking that does not come on automatically (as in my own car), please make sure that you flick the switch every time, and if you haven't got central locking, be super-careful to keep your handbag safe. There are a lot of toe-rags out there. I am fine, but I have reported the incident to the police in case something similar should happen to someone else.(I was able to give them the registration number of the suspects' car).
Onwards and upwards. Today I must
- send an email
- scan some documents
- go to the PO
- do more admin and clear more paperwork - thankfully the piles are getting smaller by the day
- send more emails
- make more phonecalls
- bake
- clean up the kitchen
- take DH to the surgery
- take Rosie for a walk
- help at the Pudding Night!
Hope everyone has a good (or better) day xx

MorningIroning done and awayWashing duvet, as cat 2 / ear infection say no more, bought a duvet to replace it from Lild's last night, 1st time in years and I do mean years I have bought a duvet, so I guess it is about time, if the WM one is clean it can be a spare or I'll see if local dog rehoming would like it.Off to kill some weeds.Pasta bake needs portioning up and freezing.Need to find out how much a load of logs is for this winter, money from the eby / car booting fund should be enough fingers crossed.Have a good safe dayBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Morning xx
Thank you for the Hope you're feeling better, and the How are you? messages. ❤ Whatever it is wiped me out yesterday- I went back to bed in the afternoon. And slept!!!! Most unusual.
I'm feeling a little more human this morning. Definitely less brain fog. And I now know what it's really like to do nothing!
My aim for today is to have a shower and either get dressed or put on a clean nightie....depending on how I feel after the shower.
Lovely to see you Mademoiselle xx
Well done kaz - awesome 👏 👏 xx
Glad to hear you are OK iona - there was someone trying doors in the village in the early hours recently. And we don't live at the posh end!! Less alarms I suppose.
Have a good day everyone. Especially those relunctantly returning to work today ❤ xx
