DD has decided that she wants a DS Lite for her birthday after playing with her cousin's last night! They all seem to be around the £100 mark so it is a possibility as she's had £50 for Christmas and birthday already. I'll have to see - she wants the Happy Feet game to go with it:think:.

I suppose it's small though and so won't take up too much room!

    Morning all

Two loads of washing done and draped round (windy out but rain is promised). I've got another load to do but there's no point until there's room to hang it up - that will be tomorrow. Includes DD's bedding.

I've dusted the living room and hall and vacuumed right through downstairs. Vacuumed stairs, landing and bathroom/toilet. Dusted and vacuumed all the bedrooms.

I've been through the Christmas drawer under the bed (cards/paper). Not much to get rid of but it's sorted. Won't need cards next year but I might get a roll of paper if I see anything nice reduced.

Everybody is working today (I go in this afternoon) so it's very quiet here. Feels a bit weird! DS went back home yesterday so that's a bit :(

Pollybear you are doing great keeping on top of things. Hugs to you, it is hard after all the hussle and bustle when things quieten down - a bit like how bare it looks when the decs come down but I am sure you will feel 'back to normal' soon.

I have tidied our bedroom and it is almost straight. Hoovered on top of the wardrobe. OH just hoovered the living room and put the dining table away. I need a list:

    Finish tidying living room
    Wipe round in living room

    Tidy Hall
    Sort rubbish
    hoover hall

    S&S

    Hoover family room/kitchen

Try to find the kitchen table
    Empty WM and refill
    Finish putting laundry away
    Sort out the fridge
    Chop up turkey for cat

    That will do for now.

Mushypeas welcome to you, new flyladies always welcome. The two rules we try to stick to (especially when new) are:

Babysteps - don't bite off more than you can chew or you will get disheartened, I know it is tempting to say I am doing the whole place but that rarely works.

No playing catchup - when we are back to the lists (next week I expect) remember that each room will come around again the next week. Lots of us do play catch up (me included) but it really is best not to. Good luck

Mushypeas welcome, nice to see you here, can't add much to what Dusty has said, new list starts on Sunday ready for Monday, link will be posted on the end of this thread.

Oooooooooooooops Wilkos have delivered all of those huge orders at the same time  I think the delivery men hate me, I also blasted them for leaving the parcels outside on Xmas Eve, I've just finished emptying another box, 3 left to go, not bad going emptying 15 since 9.30am, no, I didn't type that wrong, 18 parcels inc one bigger than DS1 plus some odd shaped things, I think one is my new leaf rake :D other one might be the clothes airer  as I haven't unpacked them yet.

:rolleyes:DP said 'Fill a box of what you don't need now and I'll put it in the shed' I've filled 3, all sorted through, washer tablets, soda crystals, dw tablets, dw salt & rinse aid etc etc so he's going to not be my friend either.....plus side, we'll all smell lovely for at least a year with all the toiletries etc, I've stashed some in the bottom of the airing cupboard, trying to think of somewhere for the rest before I unpack them.....cushions for the sitting room I am really pleased with, and the curtains.

Anyway, on top of all that we're all ill again (no the ear thing has not gone yet, very painful and still deaf, anti biotics haven't helped), so the 15 boxes of tissues will come in handy, cold seems to be back, maybe a different 'variety' but I feel lots worse (hence having a break due to cold sweats. urgh) DP definately has 'Man Flu' and is getting ever so slightly ON MY NERVES  He's of course much worse than anyone else and needs a full waitress service....

What's that phrase again, kids get colds, men get flu and women get on with it?

Right, 3 more boxes to empty inc the giant one, then I am off in the shower, my electric bills going to be huge with all the consoles etc, even worse when I'm ending up having 3+ showers a day then there is all the linen I keep having to wash either because of DSs being sick or because someones cold sweats have made the sheets icky.

Oh dear, having a moan again aren't I. Right, time I got on with the rest of this....
One day I might be more organised...........

Welcome mushy peas! My only advice would be don't beat yourself up when you don't complete the list. I don't always do everything but our house is so much better than it was.

Ok, I know I can be a bit scatty but can anyone tell me how I forgot we're having a party today, starting at 3pm, for 10 adults and 11 children???!?!? Second question - should I really be on here when I have so much to do?!?!

Oh well, nipped to lidl's and got pate, cheese, dips and stuff to make a chilli with fresh bread. That'll do fine.

Took DD to the doctors this morning as she's developed conjunctivitis (sp?). They also think she now has seborrheic dermatitis (sp?) which suggests that the nail condition she has (where they all fall off) might actually be psoriasis (sp?) after all. I'm going to have to learn how to spell all this. She saw an absolutely lovely locum doctor who was so lovely to her so she came away full of spirits, bless her. Just wish I could have it all instead of her.

My parents decided to buy us a new cooker for Christmas as ours hasn't had a grill for over a year, only two of the gas rings works and the door doesn't work properly. They didn't tell us until after they'd found out what we'd buy if we could have pretty much any oven we wanted. Just got an email today to say that a range style cooker is being delivered on Wednesday next week. Even better they got £250 off it! Of course I got it through a cash back site, with a £20 coupon I found, asked for free delivery and got it on a cash back credit card. We probably won't get it plumbed in for a while as need to find someone to do it but I'm very excited, sad I know. The best of it is - I won't have to clean this oven again as there's no point!

Hope you all have a lovely day. Right, better prepare for the onslaught! xx

I'm hungry - time for lunch, I'll sort the fridge at the same time.

My Christmas tree has started to smell vile:confused: not the water, not the cats, the branches/needles smell horrid, not sure what to do?

I hope everyone had a good Christmas/Birthday and that all the planning/cleaning has been worth it.

Lil Me, my Wilkos stuff came this morning too. Sent me some disney party cups instead of wax furniture polish  but at least I noticed. Nowhere to put any of it......

DS1 and I have just had a nice time polishing all of the brass with my new tin of Brasso wadding. I put it on, he polished it off. My in-laws arrived with about 40 horse brasses to go with the ones that came with the house. They may go with the house, but I am not a huge fan of clutter or ornaments so mixed feelings.

A week of visitors meant a lot of cleaning and work as you would expect. They all left on Boxing Day, and I spent the rest of the day reading some of the 14 books I got. Amazing the state the house can get into in just one day of neglect, but I am nearly back on top of it now. Four Wexfords to go though so we may sink again yet.

DH got me a DS lite and I love it! Been playing Zelda and Animal Crossing and all sorts of games (he also got me an R4 card, google it, and DS1 an R4 card, he got a ds last year) But I have a callus inbetween my thumb and finger now! LOL!

Best deal I found was Curry's, using quidco and as many vouchers as you can find. Or Game. Though Game stores usually have 2nd hand ones at around £60 I may pick one up for DS1 and give DS2 DS1's old one.
