Hopefully this is the end of it.At least until 2025, when smart meters become mandatory!Wonder if you might share your source for "mandatory"?Can't seem to locate any form of legislation which requires a consumer to have a smart meter unless it is a replacement or installation in new build property.... which is why i wrote mandatory, not compulsory or obligatory or any other word.Ofgem have mandated that the suppliers achieve 100% roll-out of smart meters by the end of 2025. Thos is discussed at the link I provided. It doesn't need legislation. If Ofgem require it of the suppliers, the suppliers will do it (or pay the penalties of they don't).0

The actual EDF threat or harassment level is extremely low unlike say the private parking scammers that use severe harassment and the courts as debt collection centres up to six years after the event for financial gain.
EDF will increase the pressure no doubt so whatever harassment you feel now they will probably increase it in the future .
I just ignore and delete as its low level .1 -
I got many texts and emails (no phone calls) from EDF in the last couple of years but ignored them as I could see it anything in it for me but I a few weeks ago they offered me £50 for installing one which I accepted as I think it is only time before I will need to for regulation or tariff reasons.
Their installer took about 90 minutes to install the two meters and a very quick rundown of the home display unit. No problems since.0 -

I would be very surprised if next year’s Political Party manifestos do not contain 3 key words ‘smart meters mandatory’. Smart meters are now mandatory in France and will be mandatory in Germany from 2025. ‘Nay sayers’ in France now face higher standing charges which will be reviewed each year.
I can hear people saying but ‘we are not in the EU’. It matters not a jot: our need for a Smart Grid is the same as in Germany; France and most other developed countries.1 -
I had my invite from Edf for a Smart gas two weeks ago and the installation was completed last week.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1
