EDF Smart Meter Harassment
Hi,
We got moved to EDF for our gas when Zog folded. In the last 2 months, EDF have tried to make 4 unsolicited appointments to fit a smart gas meter. Each of these I've had to cancel twice as their "Reply NO" WhatsApp reply doesn't work. I've got "Don't contact me about a smart meter" selected on my account profile yet this doesn't seem to stop them.
I've now raised an official complaint which they tried to close with a return call 20 mins later. I wouldn't let them close it, and just as well as I've now received another email from them about arranging an appointment.
So, how do I stop this harassment? If anyone says why don't I let them fit one, I've not got a problem with Smart Meters. What I have a problem with is being bothered all of the time by EDF. I'm not going to take time off work for them to fit one at their convenience. If they hadn't started bothering me with this I might have sorted out an appointment.
The other issue is that we only have them for gas and not electricity, and there have been too many stories on this forum about EDF agents not getting their meter to connect to another companies hub. Why would I want to waste my time with this?
Any thoughts on how to get them to stop bothering me?
Thanks

Its just a pair of meters and they just take a couple of hours to fit. No bother at all.3

I just ignore the automated letters and texts and its worked so far ....same as junk post in the past really .
Im not so sure EDF can just do the gas anyway which if fact means its all just automated pressure with no functional human analysis.
They need to meet government targets so seem to be acting like robots putting pressure on customers .0 -
afaik you need to have a smart electric meter before you can have a smart gas meter.1

Same problem here - Because of SoLR's our Electric is with Eon Next and Gas is EDF.Constant Texts & Emails from Eon for Smart metersOne was actually a phone call to my mobile whilst I was driving and I pulled into a layby to take the callExplained the 2 supplier problem and the Eon caller apologised and said he would note the file to cease the Smart meter pitches, but they still keep coming0

Are you on a fixed tariff where you have agreed to take a smart meter?0

The CEO should stop the communication for a smart meter but if not the county court will almost certainly stop any more letters, texts, emails to have a smart meter fitted.
Someone please tell me what money is0 -
EDF rang me probably about 2 - 3 times a day, every day to try and schedule time to install a smart meter, in the end I just blocked their calls. They've recently send a letter saying they'll now give me a reward from a choice if I let them install one. My current meter works fine and is safe, I don't need one, you can replace it when it's time to replace it.

So, another email asking me to book a smart meter install. I think I will have to block them. It does end up causing issues if they need to genuinely get in touch though.
To answer some questions. I already have an electric smart meter from BG. I'm on the SVT (eeek) for gas.
Astria, it sounds like they are having to try and meet some targets for smart meter installs if they are trying to bribe you into getting one. Their current targets for this year are 360,868 electric meters and 250,548 gas meters. I wonder how close to this they actually are. OFGEM says that these figures are binding, so there will probably be some kind of financial penalty if they miss them.0 -
I also moved to EDF for my gas when Zog folded and I haven't been contacted once to install a smart meter but I do recall that when my account was initially set up there was an option available to indicate that I wasn't interested. It isn't there now but then I have since signed up to a fixed tariff where the t&cs specify you are happy to have a smart meter installed.
