Green and Black do dark and mint flavour?.... darn you! I'm trying to diet!!! :rotfl:DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
just made my first lot of heart chocs - not a great success! i bought some double chocolate on Friday and when I opened it to use realised it was milk chocolate with a runny centre. Thought I would try it anyway to see how the moulds worked. The shape is OK but they are more like fudge than choc - taste good but not what I wanted:D they are also not going to set hard and will melt as soon as I take them out of the fridge. I will buy some more choc and have another go!saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

This is why its useful to have trials... (but bad on our waistlines lol)
Here are mine (they are also trials because while photographing them I 'accidently' tried half of them for taste!
This one is my favourite - the silicone heart mould was from House of Fraser for £5! The heart plate was free with Flora margarine last year.
This is it from the side, it is more this colour, about 1cm thick
And my others:
Likkel ones
And finally:
And very tasty he was too!
As you can see, some shiny, some not so, could be to do with what chocolate you use too.
Good luck with your trials and 'proper' chocolate making attempts!I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -

how does everyone get the tops of their choc hearts flat, mine were very rounded? Also do you fill the moulds with choc or just half fill? More practise I think...saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

Er, sorry for the BIG size of these pics, I tried to resize them in photobucket but the ones already posted have still stayed the same!how does everyone get the tops of their choc hearts flat, mine were very rounded? Also do you fill the moulds with choc or just half fill? More practise I think...
I personally only filled my heart mould a bit (1cm) (it was a cake mould). To get flatter choccies I think the secret is to tap the sides of the mould, like you do when you get the air bubbles out. This seems to flatten the chocolate in the mould. HTH.
The smaller choccies were made from plastic moulds that I got from a kit last easter from a delicatessen, including the cute chick.I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
