well ive just had my first attempt. thought i would melt my first bar in a jug in the microwave...... total disaster!!!! it all bubbled and burnt, complete waste! So, gone back to the traditional way of melting (in a bowl over hot water) and first lot of choccy hearts are now in the fridge setting. You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0

Yep, its me again, the thread hogger!:D
Well done moosetastic on your first attempts, did you not do the 20 or 30 second 'ping' test that other posters spoke about? That may have worked, maybe another time? Hopefully the traditional method worked for you anyway.
I'm writing because I've just made my first batch using the cocoa butter :T .
I melted it using the 'bain marie' (saucepan and bowl to you and me) seived it, and then added it to the chocolate that was melting in my chocolate maker. The melted chocolate was poured into a silicone heart mould and into some plastic moulds so I can see if there is any difference.
As I'm the one thats badgering others to put photos on, I'll do the same - probably tomorrow now...
PS - Has anybody seen my thread on Moneysaving OldStyle? Weirdest Tip ever? It was even mentioned in the MSE Money Tips email this week!(Sorry, off topic!)

Well finally I'm home from Ikea! (After the bloody car breaking down grrrr!)
I got the hearts and stars trays, but could easily have gone mad and bought the rest of them, seeing as though they were only 99p!
I'm gonna have a blast and try them out on Monday night!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
 how long did you put it on for ?
30 seconds at a time, it started ok, but then went all bubbly and weird. Haven't a clue what i did but i can still smell it now :lipsrseal
im just gonna go and check the others and see how they are getting onYou're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -
Right then, here we go, my first attempt!!
Not too shabby if I say so myself!! The top ones have hundreds and thousands on them, the couple in the middle have little pink sugarballs, but they sunk in, and the couple at the bottom had pink sugarsprinkles, but they melted in with the heat of the chocolate. The other few are just plain.
need to make some more but with a better chocolate. This one was from Tesco but the taste when set is not all that good. You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -
Well I have decided to buy a bar of Green and Blacks, milk chocolate orange, and Green and Blacks, dark and mint flavour, and just a milk chocolate one.
Got crushed almonds to put in some and going to buy some tiny marshmallows as well for some of the others.
Its all going to plan.........at the moment.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0
