It wasn't me who asked about putting them in the dishwaher:D I wondered whether using chilli would make the mould taste for future uses. will wash mine in soapy water.

Sorry guys it was me asking about the dishwasher, I have left them soaking in washing up liquid this morning so when i get back from the school run I'll have another go as its my day off!

where will I find chilli flakes]
Ok they should be either with the ethinc foods (tesco) or they do small jars in the spice section (crushed chilli flakes- sharwoods I think), I am very lucky as my corner shop sells BIG bags of them at a good price!

    Happy Chocolate Making!!

I have just done some and they turned out ok, I poped them out. They taste good but they are a little melty.

As soon as you pick them up they start to melt in your fingers. Is this right or did I miss something?

    Just used melted chocolate.

I have found a video that might help people getting the right finish on the chocolate.

Thank you for that video Jem, I was wondering about that too. It's as if the choc I used turned into something else when it was cooled, ie like you said very melty, no shine and a different texture sort of.

The tip about using cotton wool to get your chocolates shiny was for plastic not silicone moulds. My Russell Hobbs Temptations chocolate maker (my xmas present to myself! ;) ) recommends stirring in 'half a teaspoon of cocoa butter or coconut butter' to get a shiny finish. I haven't tried it (where do you get this stuff anyway?) I used a plastic mould and cotton wool - worked a treat.

I've been on the hunt for cocoa butter (even though I successfully used the plastic mould and cotton wool) because I want to try it with my silicone moulds.

First of all I found this http://uktv.co.uk/food/thread/threadid/9821 which led me on to (see last posts) http://akuawood.co.uk/product.php?productid=19&cat=3&page=1 Fairly traded from a small business, cocoa butter!:j

I just bought the sample size @£3 + P&P as you don't need very much according to my chocolate maker instructions (see above). I'll let you know how I get on.

I haven't got it yet. I posted straight after I'd ordered (yesterday). It says 3-4 working days processing time on the site so that probably means next week now! Ahh! Can't wait! I'll keep all you chocolatiers posted....

Great site, QS. :T Actually, they sell bars of choccie on there, with cocoa butter in them! So I might order a couple. There is a lovely chocolate orange bar here. That would be a lovely flavour and hopefully shiny too, with the cocoa butter in it already. :j
