The tip about using cotton wool to get your chocolates shiny was for plastic not silicone moulds. My Russell Hobbs Temptations chocolate maker (my xmas present to myself!
) recommends stirring in 'half a teaspoon of cocoa butter or coconut butter' to get a shiny finish. I haven't tried it (where do you get this stuff anyway?) I used a plastic mould and cotton wool - worked a treat.

bunbun2 - I don't think anybody wants to tell you to put the silicone moulds in the dishwasher (have you done it yet?) in case you hold them responsible.
I personally washed mine in the sink with a bottle brush to get in the nooks and crannies but I normally try to avoid washing stuff in the sink at all costs...
Yes, people, we want some more photos on here! (stamps feet) We haven't had any chocolate photos for [strike]P[/strike]ages now! (I've done mine earlier on so I can say that!)
It wasn't me who asked about putting them in the dishwaher:D I wondered whether using chilli would make the mould taste for future uses. will wash mine in soapy water.saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

I used the ikea ones and they set ok. The milk choc set in no time as there wasnt a lot of choc in them, more mallow and fudge. The white choc took a bit longer and i pushed one out too soon and it was soft so I ate itand after about a couple of hours they were set hard.

I'm not an OP (or an OAP yet!) but I can tell you that I got my plastic moulds from my Russell Hobbs Chocolate Treat Maker (as mentioned previously, £14 from Whittards) but I've also got some that were saved from chocolate boxes, advent calenders, easter egg making kits... Can you tell I like chocolate??
Sometimes my kids get to have some! :rotfl:

I am totally inspired to make my own love heart chocs now, thanks guys. Normally I would go into Thorntons and spend a fiver on a bag.

Here's mine as promised, they're for hubbies 50th birthday - well you can see that's why they have 50 on. LOL
I used the plastic moulds and was so nervous they wouldn't come out.
Thanks to all for showing pics and all the inspiration and especially Quacker's daughter for starting thread.:T :T0 -
They look good soblivion, you'll be getting everyone buying plastic moulds next! (er, where did you get yours from?)
Has anybody been ambitious enough to join two halves of hearts together? I was thinking I might have a go... It can't be that difficult...can it?I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -

A kind lady showed a link for them - sorry I don't remember your name.
They were very good and fast delivery. I couldn't get the silicone heart moulds anywhere.
I saw a french chap on youtube put two halves of a monkey together, he heated a metal chopping board with a blowtorch layed both halves flat side down on to metal board and moved them around a little bit so the flat side just melted a little bit it acted like glue and it just stuck together. You'll see in my other thread I'm no masterchef and I don't think I should be let loose with a blowtorch so I wasn't brave enough. LOL0
